We do that schedule but it's hard with daycare as her 2 hour awake time is generally when she's in the car so she falls asleep for 10 mins then wakes up and it throws off her naps. It works really well on the weekends though. And she doesn't nap great at daycare. I think there's too much going on and it's too bright.

We started it around 7 months. Gradually his awake times increased, so it became something like 2.5-3.5-4, then 3-3-4, etc. He dropped to one nap at 13-14 months. Can't comment on the daycare question though.

Both of our kids are in daycare. Our youngest is still on 2-3-4. At daycare, they work on the first nap. Sometimes it doesn't stick. Yesterday, he wanted to play and not sleep. He managed to get an afternoon nap. I don't think that he's ready for one nap yet though. It's hit or miss for us at the daycare for 2-3-4.

We just started the 2-3-4 nap schedule with our 7.5 month old DSon Tuesday. So far, it's been working beautifully. We went from 4, 30 min naps per day and 2-4+ nightly wakeups to 2, 1-2 hour naps and waking 1x/night. I'm shocked and knocking on all the wood I can find that this will continue. I have two questions regarding this schedule.
1. How long did you follow the schedule? How did you know it was time to adjust it?

2. If your LO is/was in daycare, were they able to stick to the schedule? Right now, his wake up times are variable, which makes his nap times variable. He's at home with a nanny for the summer, so it's easy for her to put him down at 8:32 or whatever random time is 2 hours after he woke up. I'm a little nervous for the transition back to daycare in August.

8:00 solids
8:50 bottle
11:30 solids
2:30 nursing or bottle of BM (pump if at work)
3:00-4:00/4:30 nap#2
Bottle at wake up
6:00 solids
6:30 nursing/bed (usually falls asleep while nursing)
10:30 dream feed (we have done this since 2.5 months and are scared he won't sleep through the night anymore if we take it away)

@Mrs. Bee: My question is, how do you do 2 meals, 5 nursing/bottle sessions, with the 2-3-4 nap schedule?

Today it went like this:
7am breastfeed
745a breakfast
930a nap (40 mins)
11a bottle after great struggle (4 oz)
12:15p put him down but he won't go down
12:45p finally went down after white noise.

*this nap usually lasts for 1.5-2 hours but since his last feed was so long ago, he was only able to nap for 1 hour)

2p bottle 2 (4 oz)
4p bottle 3 (2 oz)
4:15p dinner
6:45p breastfeeding
7:15p asleep

This works but doesn't quite work..... He used to pass out on his own for his naps but now it just feels so unnatural that we have to force him to nap. Then, his usual 1pm feed is pushed to 2pm, leaving only 2 hours room to the next feeding at 4pm (which used to be 3:30p) so he eats less. I am skeptical about feeding him later than that because then he wouldn't feed well at 7pm and he'd usually pass out by then.

This all suddenly happened last Sunday.... what's up with that...! I swear he was still doing 3 naps fine last Saturday.

@irene: we weren't doing 3 meals a day until olive was 9 months. at 6 months, you don't need to do more than 1-2.

@sandy: Thanks for the info!

Did the 4-feed @ day affect your supply? And are you doing 3 solids a day at 6 months or is this a schedule when you LO is a bit older?

I am not sure if I am comfortable with switching to 4-feed a day yet because of weight gaining issues. then my supply seems to be tanking....

It definitely sounds like he is ready for 2 naps...my LO did the same thing when she was ready to transition from 3 to 2 naps...she would basically not take her second nap...just roll around and kind of put her head down, but not sleep a good stretch. Once we moved to 2 naps, she is sleeping great again for her naps (2-2.5 hrs)

Here is this post about 2 nap schedules

http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/babies-on-two-naps-whats-your-schedule

and here is another about feeding

http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/spinoff-babies-on-2-naps-when-do-you-nurse

Here is my feeding schedule

1st nursing - at wake up (followed by solids about 30 minutes after)
2nd nursing - after first nap (followed by solids about an hour later)
3rd nursing - after second nap (followed by solids an hour later)
4th nursing - at bedtime

And I will say I was scared to move to 2 naps and cut out a nursing session, but it was no problem...she started nursing longer and eating more solids on the 2 nap schedule

My LO is 6+ months and all of a sudden, starting last Sunday, he decided he does not get tired anymore and won't go down on his normal 11:30am nap. We pushed it further and further out, and he still wasn't napping until we put the white noise on (normally he passes out on his own).

I think we are going to be approaching the 2-3-4 nap schedule, but how does the feeding fit into all this? Solids and all?

Here is what we currently have that is still changing:

7am breastfeed
745am breakfast
930am-10:15am nap 1
10:45, or even 11am bottle 1

???? nap 2
(it used to be 11:30am. he normally naps 1.5 hours, not sure anymore)

1:45pm bottle 2

(there used to be a 3:00pm nap, nowadays we don't know when to put him down or if we should put him down)

3:45pm bottle 3
4:00pm dinner
6:45pm breastfeed (usually passed out)
7:15pm bedtime

Any suggestions on what we should do to modify this?

How is your 2-nap schedule looking like combined with the feeding schedule?
