By the 30 week scan only one was still not functioning properly. They never did surgery, just extra monitoring and at birth they're still just monitoring the condition. She does get uti's more often but otherwise is a happy, healthy little girl. Typically, early delivery for unilateral reflux, cystic kidney or other unilateral renal issues is not indicated. Maybe she's jumping to what she imagines the worst case scenario to be? </p> <p>It will help her to spend some time asking questions to her doc to get a better understanding of what is really going on and take things one step at a time. The anatomy scan is supposed to be a very happy time. She got both good and bad news. Good news is that she is having another little girl. Bad news is that the little girl has only one kidney functioning properly. She has another ultrasound in two weeks to see if the kidney is functioning properly. If it isn't they are going to do an early delivery and perform surgery on this poor little one. Even worse news is that the baby would be so premature that it might not make it. =( Please pray for my friend, her husband and daughters. </p> <p>Thank you in advance. </p>
