I'm not sure when I actually conceived or when implantation was, but the day before I took a HPT (and it was a BFP), I noticed I had a TON of acne out of nowhere.

I guess the other follow-up question would be can you implant at 4DPO? Usually it's 6-8, right?

@SweetiePie: I did not get treatment of any kind, just testing that showed my husband and I are both healthy and fertile. Which has made 20 cycles of TTC sort of excruciating!! We have no idea what's wrong! If I don't get pregnant this cycle I am going on Clomid next cycle. He wanted us to wait four cycles after an HSG to see if that stimulated egg production/release.

Hi! I remember a while back you had asked about questions to ask your RE at the first consult. Did you ever end up undergoing any treatment? Asking because that can definitely impact your skin, even months later (for me at least).

I didn't with my first two, but that was in retrospect my biggest sign with this pregnancy. My skin was atrocious (really greasy, lots of break outs) around what turned out to be implantation. Fingers crossed for you!

Did anyone have acne or skin changes ahead of their BFP?

I woke up on 4 DPO and my skin had seemingly changed overnight. I usually have very smooth skin - I rarely got pimples even as a teen - and now it seems like every pore on my face has turned into a bump. I've also got a few pimples - including one on my earlobe!!

I know this would be very early for implantation but I can't think of anything else that would change my skin so drastically in such a short period of time. I do sometimes get stress-related pimples but those would be one or two big ones. This is a different kind of skin change that seems to be the overall quality of my skin. I haven't changed my soap, shampoo, detergent or anything that would cause skin irritation.

AF isn't due until Jan. 3, 4 or 5 (my cycle ranges from 26-28 days) so I can't test yet. Instead, I'm obsessively researching acne before BFP! Would love to hear your experience.

@pastemoo: I've been using the bar soap for a week now and I love it. The pink breakouts have turned into tan bumps that match myour skin. The soap does a good job of drying out the bumps and shrinking them too. I haven't used the soap on my face because I already had a routine for that, but I had a doosy bump on my chin/ neck and used it there to another magical result. While the soap doesn't prevent breakouts it's keeping my skin in check from looking grotesque.

@pastemoo: I stopped using my Rx acne meds when I was TTC, and my skin was AWFUL my first tri. I tried Cetaphil and tea tree oil, Belli, Mario Badescu, and Dermatologica, and nothing made a dent. Finally I bought some Proactiv+ at the mall, and that did help clear up my face.

I found that getting facials where they do extractions has helped my skin. I have acne that awful on my jaw line and nothing seems to help. I even had the ob prescribe a prescription creme that is safe during pregnancy and that hasn't done anything. I'm slathering on benzoyl peroxide twice a day now in hopes that will help. Just this morning I popped 5 pimpled along my jaw! It's awful. Luckily I'm due in a couple of weeks and hopefully it will start to subside and I can use stronger stuff to treat it!

I did and I spent a lot of money on supplements and a very restrictive diet that made no difference whatsoever. It was a last ditch effort after oil cleansing cleared me up for a month or two but then caused the worst and most stubborn cystic acne of my life (just in time for my wedding, lovely).

I've been using a clay mask now for about 2 years and it's really helped me more than anything else. It's called Lerosett and the website is so gimmicky, but it's really made a difference. That along with a multivitamin and sleeping in a very dark room (to regulate melatonin/estrogen) seems to be keeping mine at bay.
