Thanks guys! I feel like I enjoy the idea of her and then when it comes to actually interacting I am at a loss. Like its effort. I watch my husband do it, and it seems so easy for him. Its just depressing because I so looked forward to her being born, and now I feel like Im not enjoying it the way I should. :(
When did you guys start to feel more connected?

Hang in there! It gets easier.

I found the weekly Baby Center emails helpful because they always had great suggestions of age appropriate developmental activities for LO. Maybe something like that will give you ideas on things to do to interact with LO.

Have you thought about enrolling in a Mommy and Me class or activity? Something like that could also help you connect with your LO.

I think we all feel this way now and again, this whole parenting thing is very new and can be overwhelming. You may start to connect more with your LO as time goes on, and your LO develops a personality. It will get better momma, hang in there!

I think what you're feeling is normal! Your life has changed SO much over the past two and a half months that you are bound to have some struggles finding your footing. You are also on the cusp of your LO becoming so much more expressive, which I think will go a long ways toward making you feel connected. It's tough when a baby is so little and dependent and can only express his/her feelings in a limited way, but oh my God - it gets so much better!

My little girl is 2 1/2 months old now, and Im feeling unsure of my new role as a mom. I love her and I am good at caring for her. But I find myself nervous to be alone with her. I don't know how to interact, how to connect with her. I also find myself wondering if she truly knows who I am. I work 6 hours a day and I wonder if she knows Im her mom. Does anyone else feel this way?
