My favorite gift for stuff like this is something small from the bins in Sephora. You can get something luxurious in a small size. Not just the bins but they're a good start. I also saw a really nice Josie Maran set there just today for $24!

Those are all great gifts - your office is a lot more creative than mine! My first thought was one of these scarves, they're over budget at full price but Gap has sales constantly: http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1025507&vid=1&pid=243097032

So our clinic does a white elephant party every year for the holidays. The limit is $25 and it's 95% women ranging from early 30s to mid 60s. The last 3 gifts I gave were a succulent plant, a bottle of wine and a honey sampler from a local farm. Gift cards are allowed but discouraged.
What's your favorite white elephant gift to give or receive?

I would only call the Dr when the fever hit 104 or higher for an adult. It's not dangerous to have a fever below that. I think at 106 or something is when you start to worry about brain damage. When I was younger I would get really high fevers and it wasn't a big deal.

@macintosh: I would not call the doc until at least 4 days of 101 and higher. If there were additional symptoms, that's another story. We are in the midst of the flu now, and even still, we are just laying low and treating our fevers.

The only time I've gone to the doctor (well, ER) was when I had a sustained fever of 102+ and it wouldn't go down, even after tylenol.

My mom is a nurse and generally says up to 102 is ok. But if it's over that and stays there, then get help.

I agree with the PP, I wouldn't go to the dr unless the fever hasn't broken for more than 2 days. I would cancel the physio appointment though, although a fever can be non-serious, it is a sign that something is off in your body so it's a good idea to relax.

Hope your dh feels better soon!

My DH came down with a fever last night. Of course I was immediately concerned about the flu, but he denies having any other symptoms.

It started out at 100.7 last night, then was down to 99 something in the middle of the night after I gave Tylenol. I let him sleep in and he woke up at 101.8.

DH is relatively healthy despite his brain injury and seizure disorder. My main concern is the flu because I know it's been bad this year, but he still denies any other symptoms.

Would you call the doctor? Wait and see? Would you cancel an afternoon physical therapy appointment so he doesn't have to go out in the bitter cold? I would feel terrible exposing the kids and elderly ppl at the rehab center if he does have the flu, but at the same time I'd hate to cancel if his fever disappears later.
