Whenever she wants to I think? I think makeup is fun and artistic. I plan to let her be in charge of her own appearance as long as she is dressed weather-appropriate and covered up enough. I just want her to understand that if she chooses to wear makeup it should be because SHE thinks it is fun and not because she feels like she needs it to be pretty/good enough.

2 ? Being that she is my kid, I doubt she would ever want to wear it for more than play, but if she does I'll want to play it by ear.

I have 2 daughters and I'm not sure I would put a hard age on it. I started wearing makeup around 12 but never very much or even every day. I still have a very minimal routine.

I dont think I will press makeup or make it an issue.... when she brings it up, I think I'll assess then! I don't wear much, so hoping she follows, but I know makeup can definitely boost your confidence in those acne teen years so I am not opposed!

I have 2 girls and I don't think I care at all. I wouldn't put it on them, but if they were interested I would take them to Sephora or one of those make-up classes so they could learn how to use it properly, since I don't really know how to. My 2.5 year old uses my make-up brushes and paints her nails and toenails a lot and I have never even thought about limiting that since it's self directed. I don't even know where she learned about nail polish because I don't wear it.

Old thread revival!

I don't have a daughter but I did note one girl in my DS's graduation class (4-5yo) for photo day had on a lot of makeup, including winged eyeliner and pink lipstick. I was pretty surprised by that! She never wears it to school so I'm guessing her mom wanted her to look extra special for pics?

If I have a daughter at some point I think I would be ok with her wearing it in high school.

I have never been that into makeup, and I hardly ever wear it now (only for special occasions). If she shows little interest like I did I definitely won't push it on her. My mom kind of pushed it on me when I was a teen, and it bothered me. I always felt like I looked fine without it. I think my mom just didn't understand my lack of interest.

Basically whenever she wants to. And she can dye her hair, etc. I won't actively encourage make up really ever, but especially not until she's a teen. My mom actually pushed a little on me trying it (I always felt like it was because she thought it was fun, not because she thought I needed it) when I was in... 7th grade? It kind of annoyed me at the time, but I didn't really care. We're probably homeschooling so school rules won't apply. If we're not then she'll follow the rules at school and whatever any other time.

And for the record, 100% of this applies if we have a boy later. Their body, their call.

My mom got me makeup for primary school graduation, so basically beginning of middle school. She told me repeatedly that she regretted not letting me wear makeup earlier (I don't even think I'd asked to) because I looked so much better with mascara, blush, etc. She meant well and I'm sure genuinely felt bad about it, but for years after I really believed that I looked ugly without makeup and should never leave the house without it. Mostly I'm just hoping to avoid a repeat of this, I don't really have a set age in mind...

Whenever she wants at home/on weekends. I don't know if schools have rules about it, but mine did. So middle school probably or depending on what school rules are. i want her to be free to express herself however she feels best, but be mindful towards what is appropriate and when.

@minnie_girl I really do NOT like age inappropriate clothing either! My daughter is two but wears a 3t or 4t and I already see little crop tops and bikini bathing suits in her size! There is absolutely no reason for a little girl to show off her tummy or chest area.

I was allowed to wear makeup for dance recitals and plays as soon as I started doing performances (6 or 7?) with the understanding that it was only for shows. I was allowed to do daily cover up and lip gloss in middle school, maybe some extra stuff like *gulp* glitter eyeshadow for school dances. In high school I was allowed to wear whatever makeup I wanted as long as I didn't "look like a raccoon". I'll probably have the same rules for my DD, even though she is already asking for makeup at two!

I didn't start drinking Starbucks until my late 20s, and pretty rarely until my early 30s. Started with steamed apple juice, then an apple chai (steamed apple juice with chai syrup), now mostly chai lattes with the occasional apple chai in the fall for a change. Oh, and passion tea lemonade in the summer.

Teens: Caramel Machiatto with EXTRA Caramel. Like a lot. Always Venti

20s: stopped drinking coffee so switched to Passion Teas... and Peppermint Hot Chocolates ruled the roost-- I switched to soy when I became lactose intolerant at 27

30's so far: Soy Chai Tea Latte with extra pump of vanilla OR a white soy hot chocolate with pumpkin spice if they have it or just extra vanilla if they don't
