My son almost never wakes up with my alarm. There are a couple days that he does but typically he'll doze right back off. It's more me getting out of bed that wakes him then anything since we cosleep.

My cats on the other hand know the alarm... and come sit outside my door waiting for breakfast....

And I'm one of the hit the snooze button to many time type of people.

I'm not sure how old your twins are, but we kept my DD in our room until she was 3-4 months old, and DH always had the alarm set for himself for work in the mornings. Plus he would hit to snooze once or twice! DD would always sleep through it.

Maybe get a quieter alarm? Also probably depends on how your LO's sleep. We have 2 dogs at home, and she was already used to sleeping through the dogs barking, so she can easily tune things out when she sleeps. I say give it a go if you want to keep room sharing with them, and if you notice it disrupts their their sleep, maybe move into bed with your DH after the 1AM feeding as you suggested! It will all probably be trial and error once you start getting into a new routine.

I currently room share with my twins in that I sleep on a twin bed in their room while they are in their cribs. My husband is in the adjacent (master) bedroom. I am returning to work soon and nervous about our morning routine. As of right now, I get up when the twins get up. For work, I plan to set my alarm for 4am and get the babies up around 5:15 to nurse/get ready then out the door for daycare by 6am.

My fear is - they will wake up with my alarm instead of sleeping through. I'm not ready to stop room sharing entirely. One option, is to go sleep with my husband after their MOTN feeding around 1am.

I know that every baby is different.....but just curious if anyone who room shares (their room or nursery) found that the baby didn't wake up to their alarm clock? Or baby woke up and I should plan for the alternate scenario....

Thanks!

We don't have children yet, but we do not have an alarm system. We live in a pretty ghetto area of town because you can't find fully renovated three bedroom townhouses for $800 a month in the 'burbs ;).

Our theory is (and has proved to be true) that poor people, which sadly a lot of our neighbours are, tend not to steal from or break into the houses of who they believe to be other poor people as they won't have anything worth taking. It also helps that we have the...ferocious guard pictured as my DP. lol

I felt like we lived in a super safe neighborhood, and for the most part still do. We bought our house a little over a year ago and all the neighbors are great. Country setting and spread out but super friendly people. Most told us how its a good area, they dont lock there house all the time, or close the gates at the end of their property etc...well then this fall our neighborhood had 4 break ins and some attempted break ins. So things have changed. All during the day when people are at work. So we got an alarm system. For 40 bucks a month its good piece of mind when we are away and for our furbabies at home. I totally feel safe with our dogs (and yes we own a gun too) when we are at home, but you hear of sick things people do to animals when they break in and I worried about my fur babies if there was a break in. Plus I like the fire alarm too. If a fire happens when we are gone the FD will be sent.

Yep, we have a security alarm. We turn it on at night and when we leave the house. It also beeps twice any time a door is opened on the first floor. DH also keeps a gun in a biometric safe in our closet.

And our two furbabies are my barkers against intruders.

No, but when we lived out west, the housing we were assigned had one, it just didn't function properly.
I don't know if when we have our own house if we'd go to the expense. I've never lived anywhere where I felt unsafe enough to need one, and I doubt we'd buy a house in an area we felt the need. Besides, we have insurance for our stuff!

It does not but we have two very barky dogs and a few signs outside that say we have a security system. I had a security system in my old house and it went off one too many times so I ended up just pulling it out of the wall in the closet where it was stored. I'm not really a big fan of them. :)
