I don't think it's gross, per se (the ultrasound pics)-- I just think that people are way into oversharing and that some things would be more "special" if they were kept between friends and family? That's why I'm anti-U/S and HPT on FB.

Is it a pee stick pregnancy test? Or a digital one? If it were digital, then I wouldn't mind so much.

I don't know, I guess I can see both sides of this argument so it doesn't really bother me either way.

On the one hand, you just peed on that, I don't need to see it. On the other, if you don't really feel like getting creative and I can't see the pee drips, then I just don't think about the pee part.

Same goes for ultrasounds. It does kind of gross me out that people are putting up pictures of their uterus for the world to see. I just try to focus on the baby part of the picture.

As far as it mattering WHEN they peed on it- who cares? It doesn't bother me if someone tells right after they found out or after 12 weeks or whenever... It doesn't affect what they are telling. In fact I think it might be even stranger if they get to 12/14 weeks and still post the stick, as I think most people have ultrasounds or something baby (small gifts) to show by then, but either way I don't really think it bothers me. Now if it had the cup of pee on the counter next to it...yuck.

After announcing to friends and family in person, we posted a scan of an ultrasound picture.

About a week later, a girl I hated from high school (but never talk to anymore) posted a status update to the effect of: "I think it's disgusting when people post ultrasound pictures on facebook... gross!"

Yeah, unfriended. :)

I'm not a fan of announcing pregnancies on FB, either with a pee stick or an ultrasound. Bump pics or other stuff are ok, but I don't need to see something you pissed on, and the inside of your uterus shouldn't be online, IMO.

@FutureMrsMcK: your announcement made me laugh out loud. love it!

@mediagirl: i'm not sure how far along she is... which is stranger: that she posted right away or kept the photo until she was 12 weeks and then announced?

i'm not totally grossed out and this person has been known to share a little too much for me personally, but i just wondered if anyone else had seen/done the same as it's the first time i've seen it on facebook like that.

i think that's the kinda pic you send to your SO, not post for everyone to see, but that's just my opinion. and also, i would never post that on my facebook just because who knows what could happen. i'm 31 weeks and i still haven't facebook announced it.

I agree. pee sticks dont need to be on facebook. its different on here because this is a baby and parenting site, and we post a lot of stuff that is typicall TMI. but it just seems too much for facebook.

Well, did she wait till 12 weeks or did she post it right after peeing on it? That would make a big difference for me. If she posted it as her announcement at or around 12 weeks, I don't think I would have had a problem with it. Honestly, I'd rather see that than ultrasound pictures where I can never figure out what's in them anyways. :)

Eck, I have to agree with you. I do have a picture of the test. But I sent it to NO ONE. No one, most likely not even your SO cares to see where you peed to prove that you're prego. Jeez.

I didn't do it. For one thing, I didn't want anyone of my IRL friends to see something I peed on. For another thing, especially after our miscarriage, I wouldn't want to announce right away and then have to go back and tell everyone and their mother that we lost the pregnancy.

We announced at 13 weeks, after we got the results from our NT scan back. I posted a picture of our 12 week ultrasound, and said "(DH) is going to be a Daddy, and I'm pretty sure it's mine."

photos of your positive pregnancy tests? i'm not TTC yet, but i had a FB friend post photos of her positive tests to announce their LO on the way...

to me, that's a little much. sonograms, cool. cute photos of buns and bumps, awesome. pee sticks? no.

and don't get me wrong, i LOVE seeing the positive tests on these forums, but it's anonymous and i feel like this is a place to tell sooner than you would with your RL friends.

agree? disagree? did you post your positive HPT to announce?

(i checked the past FB announcement thread and everyone had way cuter ideas about announcing and no mention of HPT photos.)
