@alphagam84: Thanks, we're about the same size so that's helpful! Although right now I'm obviously bigger/pregnant but sounds like the XS is the way to go.

@PinkElephant: Definitely report back when you use yours!

I loved our K'Tan for the first 3 months. I got an XS and it fit me well. I'm 5'2 and 110 pre-preg and gain 30 lbs each pregnancy (and it takes me 6m to lose it all). Also usually have 32B boobs but with breastfeeding they are 34DD!

I LOVE our k'tan! I have an XS and it fits perfectly. 5'5, size 4, 120 pounds, normally wear a size small shirt. I originally ordered a size S and I thought there was no way I'd fit in a XS but luckily Amazon shipped the XS by mistake so I tried it on and found out it fit! Way easier to use than the wraps that you have to wrap all around your body. I used it for my 10 month old daughter this weekend and it fit just fine so I think the age range you can use it is pretty big.

@Goldengirl: I was in a similar dilemma (well within the ktan xsmall size range, but get HUGE nursing boobs), and was advised to go with the extra small. I got mine used, and at 34 weeks pregnant it fits me, but not with very much extra room. I can let you know in a month or so how it goes with baby! So far, it seems easier than the Movy, which I loathed. I think it'll be a better indoor carrier than the ergo, which is my go- to for outside.

@Goldengirl: we have a k'tan. Theoretically it's ok and would probably fit my pre pregnancy boobs, but my nursing boobs and large newborns didn't really fit comfortably. If you can get to a CMC meeting there are tons of carriers to try. I'd also recommend getting the k'tan used so you're not out a ton of cash if the sizing doesn't work. I see them for sale all the time on the local swap.

I got a k'tan and was in an XS pre-pregnancy (but close to the upper limit), and I wish I had gotten a S. It worked ok for the first few weeks but when she got bigger it seemed to squish her and she didn't like it. I also read reviews that said they can stretch out a bit, but mine didn't at all that I noticed! But then again we only used it a few times, maybe it would've stretched more with more use.

I have a Ktan and loved it. Small and easy to throw in the diaper bag, to wash, etc. But yes the downside is DH couldn't wear her. I would go with the Xsmall. You want it tight. It does stretch out in between washes.
DH just wore her in the Ergo when she got bigger since we didn't have the insert. We got an infant insert for the Ergo for this baby, since with two kids one of us will probably be wearing her out and about.

Do you have a lending library in your area? We have a Facebook group that does monthly (I think) meetings where you can try on lots of carriers and then sign out a carrier for the month. Look up Babywearing International in FB search and a location near you might pop up.

I had the k'tan with LO1. I was an XS based on my pre-preg size and had gained 32 pounds during pregnancy. In the early days, it felt too tight and I thought I was squishing LO. Within a few weeks, I had either stretched it out or lost weight or something because it started to feel too loose. So it never really fit me and we didn't use it much at all. We also had an ergo with LO1 and that also never really worked for me (I think I am too short, so it hurt my back). DH liked it though.

For LO2 (not here yet), I just bought a Lillebaby and am thinking of getting a solly wrap so I have something adjustable for the early days.

@Goldengirl: I have a K'tan and a Lillebaby. Like the both! I too am not coordinated enough to wrap, and the K'tan worked well for me. I use it more when I'm sitting down (church, going out to eat, at people's houses) and the lillebaby offers more support for walking, groceries, excursions etc. I had a Beco Gemini with my first LO, and much prefer the lillebaby. It has better back support. In terms of ktan sizing, go with the smaller - they stretch. Hope that helps!

@Goldengirl: ring slings, as long as they are used properly, are just as safe as other carriers. I didn't like wearing my Ergo around the house until my baby could ride on my back because it was hard to see around her. I'm not a fan of wrapping because it's a lot of fabric for me and I don't like dealing with it.

@snowjewelz: I didn't love the idea of a wrap that I have to actually wrap just because they always look complicated and I want something I can just slip on without having to tie a bunch of material. Also not really into the slings, mostly paranoid about safety. I know Lillebaby can be used with newborns which was appealing... I'm just wondering if it will be annoying to wear it around the house. But I'd love to just have one carrier if it's possible!

Your train of thought is correct! I used a wrap like carrier when I was on maternity leave with a small infant, also a winter baby, then moved onto structured ones for when she was bigger and when it got warmer. I've had the Beco, Ergo, Tula, Connecta... Never tried Liliebaby but heard great things about it! A nice feature is that you can face baby out (tho it's a short phase).

I didn't like the K'Tan either; the size I got was too small for me I think. There are so many options! How about a Moby wrap? Or Solly? Or ring slings?

I want to get a baby carrier but there are so many and I don't want to buy a bunch of things I won't use. Looking for recommendations from baby wearing experts!

It will be winter when baby comes, so I'm thinking I won't do a lot of carrying outside... probably more around the house. For that reason, I'm drawn to the K'tan. I don't want something with complicated wrapping, so it seems like a good solution. However, I'm REALLY confused on the sizing because the reviews seem pretty split between people my size who wore either a size small or x-small. It says to choose based on your pre-preg weight, which according to their chart, would probably be an x-small for me. But what if I don't lose the weight right away? Anyone have any experience wearing a small or x-small or trying both?

I am also interested in the Lillebaby since I've heard lots of good things. I'm thinking that will be better than the k'tan for walks outside of the house, and will last longer/grow with baby a bit more. Any recommendations for the Lillebaby? Is it good for wearing around the house too, or too bulky? If it works well for every stage and indoor/outdoor, I might just forget the K'tan... especially because I'd like to be able to share it with my husband.

Any thoughts appreciated, thanks!

I've never used an Ergo, so I can't honestly compare them. I have 3 tula's and I absolutely love them. It works well for my baby, and it's still super comfortable for my 22 month old. I really like that I can use it for so long, the weight goes up to 45 pounds I believe. Also, with a tula, you can sell it for pretty much retail or more than retail depending on the print ( and condition you keep it in. ) I would see if your city has a babywearing group with a lending library. There's so many different carriers out there, it's nice to try a couple out and see what really works for you :)

I think it depends on how long you will really be wearing the baby- which you really won't know until it's here. We had a beco , then borrowed an ergo when c got too tall for the beco. She was tall in the ergo too by it was a little more comfortable. This was at around 20 months and she is on the shorter side. I really wanted a Tula at that point (it was a loooooonnnngggg snowy winter and the carrier was the only way to get around since the sidewalks were too snow covered for strollers). By since she was already so old I hesitated to buy another carrier. If I could I back, knowing how much I did wear her, I'd have gotten the Tula to begin with.

I have been lusting after Tulas but in all reality really love my Ergo. Got it on sale at Target and I really love the front pocket and zip pouch, which the Tula doesn't have (I think it has a small waist pocket?). Love being able to carry a burp cloth, diaper, wallet, phone, etc when we go on walking errands.
