My mom got one for us from Amazon after his second nursing strike when he was around 20 weeks old. No more nursing strikes and it greatly reduced drooling. We had no issues with teething until he got to all four molars coming in at once. I can't say 100% that it works, because I'm afraid to take it off, and he is super easy going- but comparing him with babies at similar stages, I think it's working.

@sloaneandpuffy: thanks!

@hilsy85: I know a lot of bees got theirs from Inspired By Finn. I bought 2 when I saw them on BabySteals by Mon Petit Mardi. Both have websites and there are a bunch on Etsy. You just want the ones that are Baltic Amber. And I read, unpolished has more of the acid.

@JerricaBenton: I've read people wrap it around an ankle and put it under the sleeper or a sock while sleeping.

After reading this post the other day I was inspired to get out L's amber necklace but I also thought it was a little too long for me to just leave on her right now, especially when we're out and I can't reach her in the car seat. I think for maximum effect you're supposed to leave it on while they sleep too - I don't think I can ever do that! It is so cute though!

@hilsy85: Ours was a gift, but I think the pouch said Art of the Cure

I put one on Jax when he was about 13 weeks. He was soaking shirts with drool and even going through bibs. He even got a little rash from being wet, even though I thought I was on top of it. It stopped the drooling almost completely until his teeth started to actually cut through and then only lasts for a couple days.

He never really noticed he even had it on, since it sat under his clothes most of the time. It's only been recently (11 months) that he has grabbed it here or there, but I just distract him from it, and he forgets about it all over again.

When did you start using the Baltic Amber Teething necklace if you have one? I've read it can help with drooling, and while K is still too young for teething, she is a drool dribbler! Did anyone have god luck with that? She's going through bibs like crazy!

I bought 2 necklaces and actually think they're cute too. So wondering when I can start using them on her. I tried once a couple weeks ago, but it still seemed too big, like she could get it caught in her mouth, so I took it off right away.

We ended up with one in the middle of the color range anyway :)

We just had a top tooth come in with very little fussing and zero drooling!

I get comments and questions every day, 1. That people don't understand that it isn't meant to be chewed and 2. That we have a necklace on a boy. We just call it his "chick magnet" and tell them it is European.

I wasn't a believer, but I got one off Baby Steals and my LO def seems to be doing better once he started wearing one. In terms of responsibility, it depends on the type of friendship you have. My LO wears it on his ankle and I am no longer worried about him choking on it. He barely even notices it.

Can't hurt, but I wouldn't tell her that it's for the clingyness, just for general well-being. I have heard that cutting molars can be even more painful than first teeth, so could be good for that. They're cute too, so why not give it a whirl and give the gift?

My LO has been wearing his amber necklace since he was 2 months old and it never comes off. It's hard to say whether or not it works because we won't take it off to see :). He's 8.5 months with 2 teeth.

Since most kids get all of their teeth by 2 I don't know if it would be beneficial for a 1.5 year old. I would maybe just mention it to your friend and she may want to look into a bracelet or anklet since a 1.5 year old may be more prone to tugging at a necklace (my LO has no idea his is on and he pulled on it for the first time yesterday but I think it was by accident).

First of all, we have amber teething necklace and we are using it since the baby was 3 months old. Now he is 7 months old and we still wear it. The necklace is done safely, with knots between beads and with reliable screw clasp.

So, as a mother of the baby wearing teething necklace, i first of all think that it really works and is worth trying.
Secondly, I think that amber teething necklace is a great first jewellery piece for the baby :)
Thirdly, by giving teething necklace as a gift to the other baby, you should let its parents know, that the baby should be supervised when wearing and as an extra precautions you can offer them to take it off when baby is taking a nap or during the night.
However, from my own experience i can tell that when baby is asleep its better not to wake him up and let him stay with the necklace :) it's just that it is important to warn parents about possible hazard.

We have one, and love it! I can't say for sure how well it works, but he doesn't drool much anymore and seems more comfortable with teething- I'm too afraid to take it away and test if it works. My mom got it for us off of Amazon for around $20.

If I were you, I may not approach it as a gift- I would probably present her with information on it, maybe say "isn't this interesting, I'm considering it for my baby when it comes along, what do you think since you have a kid?" This way if she is interested, you would find out and can then consider it as a gift.

I first saw the Amber Teething necklaces on BabySteals when I had no idea what they were (but they were all sold out!) Then I saw them on HB (I think on @baby blackbird's kids) and more and more on mom's blogs now. I'm convinced enough that "it can't hurt, maybe it can help" and will definitely try it on my on LO when she's old enough.
Then I started thinking that MAYBE it could help my BFF's LO? She is about 1 1/2 y/o and seriously a tough one! IDK if I would call her cranky or fussy or spoiled, though other observers have said that. I just know that she is definitely a lot more difficult than other babies/toddlers I've been around. BFF said she has been extra clingy and has separation anxiety now ever since she had her MMR shots. Even her grandparents that babysit every week can't hold her now!
Q1: I was wondering if you guys think an Amber Teething necklace might help? Is she getting too old for it? I know she had a couple of new teeth come in recently.
Q2: Would YOU gift this kind of necklace or would you be worried about anything happening w/the baby necklace and worry about responsibility?

@Clementine: the one I bought has tiny beads (he would be able to swallow them, they are smaller than the hole in a cheerio) and they are knotted between every bead so even if it pops open only one bead would fall off. The clasp is made so that if the baby gets the necklace caught on something and falls, the clasp will pop open (break) and prevent strangulation. All the moms I know who use that one that I bought say their LO will pull on it but not hard enough to trigger the clasp to break.
I'm more concerned about it being a total waste of money. :P

DD has been wearing hers since Monday (a necaklace that we keep around her wrist wrapped 3x & and anklet) and I think I'm starting to see a difference. This is the first day in a week I haven't had to give her tylenol b/c she was so fussy and clearly hurting (she was ferociously trying to rub her gums & kept grabbing her jaw/cheek it was terrible to see) She's also drooling ALOT less!

I hope that the longer she wears it the better her symptoms get! And that is MAY even help her tummy issues since it supposedly helps inflammation.
