My LO is in a convertible crib, it's in the daybed stage now. Where can I get bedding to fit?? I want to change her room up. Right now it's still Team Green neutral, but she's 2. Time to spice it up. lol

Thanks!

After reading and looking into all of it, we opted to not get a bedding set, since we'd likely never use the bumpers. Instead, we registered for QuickZip sheets (http://www.cloudsandstars.com/QuickZipCribSheets.aspx). They're not super cute, but I bet I'll appreciate them at 2am when I can just zip off the top of the sheet instead of changing the whole freaking thing. And my mom is making a crib skirt and a blanket that we'll use on the glider and for snuggles until it's safe to use as an actual blanket in the crib.

We just registered for a couple of fitted sheets. We're not planning on using bumpers or a crib skirt -- we have a cat, so the crib skirt would just end up being a hair collector! We also registered for an Aden + Anais dream blanket that I can use on myself when I'm nursing, or for when he's older. I didn't really like any of the crib blankets I found as part of sets.

@zippylef - Thanks for the info! I know it really doesn't seem like it should be such a big concern if everyone still keeps selling the bumpers! It really does come down to personal choice doesn't it?

@travelgirl1 - ooh! That's the problem w/baby stuff! All the cute stuff is soooo tempting to buy, and much more fun than the "practical" stuff. I bet your set is super cute!

@mrsdaredevil - Awesome that you could make your own set! I think I might just ask my aunt to make me a matching bumper just to have when she makes me the bedskirt too.

@looch - oh my, even the breathable bumpers are a don't? I really don't see how those can be dangerous, but you know we live in a super-cautious society now. :)

I think even breathable bumpers are also on the do not use list, according to the AAP.

Either way, it's one of those decisions you kind of have to be in the moment to determine.

We went to Babies R Us yesterday to get important things like a crib - but instead came away with a bedding set that I bet we'll never use, lol! But it was SO DAMN CUTE!!! I couldn't resist. It came with a skirt, sleepsack and sheet though so they're all useable and the cute as a button quilt we can use as a wall hanging or for chilling on the sofa days with baby.

My lo has been a roller--in the hospital they told us to roll up two blankets and put on each side of him so he sleeps totally on his back. I asked about the bumper and they said its fine until he starts rolling/pulling.

@jholler25: I think the rate is something like less than 20 confirmed injuries that can be directly attributed to crib bumpers in the last 20-25 YEARS. I think people make a much bigger deal about it than it really is. I think bumpers are super cute and we use them. No issues here yet and she's nearly 6 months old. Now that we have them off for a bit, we're having issues with her banging her head on the crib slats. I'll see if I can find the article about it for you.

@zippylef: I've really REALLY wondered how big of a deal it is. I mean, every baby website that sells bedding still not only actively markets cute baby bumpers, but continue to come out with new ones/new prints. I'm a huge fan of PBK, and they certainly keep pushing them, with no warnings or fine print about dangers...I have wondered if it was not enough of a concern to be a liability worry for them? And if that's the case...Maybe it's not REALLY a big deal....But still I am a chicken so I didn't have the guts to shake it off and buy one:)

Meh. We use her bumpers. They are off temporarily while we are breaking her from the swaddle since she has started rolling but they'll go back on as soon as she stops being swaddled. It's a very personal decision and they rates of injury from crib bumpers is actually very low. It's very much overstated in the media.

Our crib is modern so there isn't a spot for a crib skirt. I'm making my own crib sheets from super bright fun fabrics and then my Mom made a quilt. Cheaper for sure - even if you don't want to/aren't a sewer to go through Etsy instead of buying a whole crib set.

We will just be using fitted sheets and a crib skirt (and a breathable bumper once LO is old enough that we have to worry about limbs sticking out of the slats). We registered for the matching quilt so that if someone wants to buy it for us we'll have it once LO graduates to a toddler bed. But if no one buys it for us we won't buy it ourselves.

I was bummed about not being able to use bumpers since they're so cute :( i went with pink breathable bumpers and bought a pretty crib skirt, and some cute sheets. The bedding sets, while adorable, seemed useless since you can't use the bumpers or quilts (unless as a wall hanging)

@shopaholic: This was one of the biggest bummers for me! The bumper is what makes the bedding sets so cute! I was all excited to order a super cute crib set, and then I found out on here that bumpers were a big fat no no (except for breathable), And our crib really doesn't need a skirt because it's so much wood, it would be hard to see the skirt. So the bad news is I just got some cute pink sheets from PBK, and the good news is that saved me a lot of $$$!

We didn't buy a set either. We have several fitted sheets and a breathable bumper. That's all we've needed. The breathable bumper has been great for keeping DS's arms and legs from getting stuck and helps keep pacifiers in as well. I picked some fabric and my grandmother made a larger quilt (toddler size) for when DS is older. He's one and still doesn't sleep with a blanket, just pajamas and a sleepsack.
