Hell. No.

The only people who can touch my belly are my husband and son (almost 4yo). They don't have to ask.

My MIL tried to help herself during my pregnancy with my son. I was pretty shocked that she would not ask first and did not react very nicely. She really caught me off guard.

I think it is extremely presumptuous to touch someone's belly without permission, regardless of what is in her uterus. It is still my belly even if I am pregnant.

@Mrs. D: I totally feel you I was 8 months pregnant when I went to the grocery store and then out of nowhere a woman came from behind me and rubbed my belly! I told her to stop but she continuously rubbed it anyway. After that I backed away but I was so huge that I lost my balance and fell backwards. It was so embarrassing! The same lady helped me up and without asking if I was OK she continuously rubbed by belly and kept rubbing rubbing and rubbing. Eventually more men and woman surrounded me and started rubbing my pregnant belly. After that I yelled at all of them really loud and they kept quiet and walked away. The whole time I was driving home my belly started hurting and felt really uncomfortable.

@macintosh: this happened to me. I was 24 weeks, and I fell down a hill while walking and landed on my belly. I was on vacation at the time, but I called the on-call midwife at home. She said to lie down, and time movements for an hour. If I felt anything was wrong after that, to go get checked out.

Just saw you updated- so glad everything is okay!

I want to thank you all for your advice. Contrary to what many of you suggested, I didn't call or go in. I was more exhausted and in need of rest than I was worried.

I realized that the "cramping" was probably just due to the giant portion of spaghetti that I ate for dinner

My mom reassured me and later in the night baby was kicking so hard I could see my belly move. It was like he was saying "I'm ok Mom, I'm still good in here!"

I fell several times during my pregnancy and every time, they had me come in. Be warned, if you go in to be monitored, they will keep you for at least 3-4 hours. I'd call, better to be on the overly cautious side!

I would call. I fell with LO's pregnancy. This pregnancy, I feel twice within a span of a week. Before Christmas, I went to my doctor's office for a piece of mind. They did a doppler check on LO while looking at my face. I had some bruising on my nose from one of the falls. Since then, I don't go on step stools or carry LO.

I vote call. I fell flat on my stomach hard, on gravel at a photo shoot 24 weeks along. I went to L&D per my OB to be monitored and was there for 4 hours, everything was just fine. It was my understanding that baby is better protected at that point.

I fell on my belly at 36 weeks. It happened on a Saturday morning, so I didn't do anything about it because the baby was still moving. I worried about it all day and finally called my OB's after hours line that evening, and they had me go to the hospital to be checked. The nurses and doctors all scolded me for not calling immediately. I ended up being monitored for 24 hours. Everything was fine, and you likely are too, but I would definitely call!

@macintosh: I think if you landed on a cushioned seat, and it doesn't sound like there was a lot of force, you are fine. Especially when baby is moving. You can call the on-call ob to ask for things to look for, but I wouldn't go to the ER, and I'd be shocked if they directed you to do so.

I know that the baby is well protected by the amniotic sac, but I have been feeling a little crampy since it happened. I can feel baby moving, still.

thanks ladies for your kind words I will come back again to read your posts monday morning to give me some confidence :-)
Looks like spanks and some new outfits are in order :-) although I don't think DH would approve much of my new wardrobe!! Its been more expensive than we anticipated with all the baby stuff.

@tysonja: nyc and its getting hotter but I don't heat up much so hopefully it will be fine.

@mrskc: thanks! I will try the ab exercise sounds easy enough
@Smurfette: I started doing planks last week. I am finding it so much harder even with my knees down and then I can't even go all the way down and lie flat as my boobs are sensitive!!
