My cousin got LO a bitty doll around one but she never really took took to it until a couple of days before I found I was pregnant. (She was around 2.5). Now, she's obsessed with it and carries it with her everywhere. We have other dolls (someone got her the pottery barn doll, another nice doll my parents got from Europe, my old doll I used to have) but the American Girl is the only one she consistently plays with.

Yes! Half of the reason I was excited to have a girl was so I could buy her stuff from American girl. I held off buying one for her 1st birthday but plan in buying it next year.

My girls both have one - the 3 yr old isn't really that fussed about it, but my 21 month old carries it everywhere and is so loving towards her baby! She's had it for about three months and has loved it from the start. She also loves undressing her baby but gets frustrated that she can't get the clothes on again!

@peachykeen: I'm pretty sure it was $75 as opposed to $60 for the bitty baby, and it included an oufit and a book (which was kinda useless, but she loves the outfit at least).

It was this, but with just one of the two dolls! http://www.americangirl.com/shop/bitty-twins/bitty-twins-doll-set-girl-girl-cml29

My LO is 19 months and she looooves my old Bitty. A pro tip though: I had an outfit that came with shoes, and she is obsessed with putting them on and off. The only problem is that they don't fit over Bitty's sleeper. So get Bitty something to wear other than a sleeper to avoid the meltdowns!!

LO LOOOOOVES her bitty baby! BUT, we took her to the store - since it's close by, and she was only 1.5 and we weren't sure if she'd be ready (and I didn't want to spend the $ if she didn't care about it). She absolutely went crazy over the store and picked her baby out herself. I had expected to get her the bitty baby, but she fell in love with one of the bitty twins because it has hair! so she has a bitty twin (just one) and the clothes are all the same as the bitty baby (interchangeable). I think she'll actually use it longer because it has hair, and that's fun for her. Baby goes everywhere she goes these days at almost 2.

Also, we bought baby a little crib off amazon, and she sleeps next to LO at night. LO loves putting her to bed - the cribs at AG were ridiculous in price!

LO got one last year, Today show had a deal on them, at 21 months. She plays with it, but she plays the most with her $10 Target baby doll. I think she likes it better cause it is smaller. But she likes the Bitty baby eyes close.

My girls both have one. The baby just plays with the eyes and drags it around, but my two year old loves it. She has one matching dress (she and the doll match) and one matching set of pjs that she loves to wear. She has some tea cups, plates and cupcakes we got as party favors at the AG cafe in chicago, but the rest of her doll stuff is more affordable, off brand, e.g. Target doll stroller and M&D diaper bag kit. The dolls are well made, and when we had an issue with one eye sticking, their "hospital" fixed it and sent it back to her in a hospital gown and cap with a little card and certificate of wellness. So cute!

My kids received bitty twins for their first birthday and I thought it'd be a gift for the shelf for a while, we'd pull them out down the road. However, both LOs were immediately interested and loveeee their dolls. (Actually, they both prefer the boy doll, haha!) My LOs are 18 months now and DD loves carrying her doll around, wiping his face, feeding him snacks, etc. So I think 2 is a great age for a bitty baby.

Starting my Christmas shopping early and trying to decide what we should get for our daughters "main" gift this year. I don't want to get anything big as we don't have a lot of space and we're hoping to list our home in the months following Christmas. One idea I had was a Bitty Baby doll from American Girl. She just turned 2 in Sept. Its in our budget to get the doll and maybe 1-2 small accessories. Good gift or am I crazy? go.....
