@chillybear: Yes, I have had a positive experience with Stitchfix. They've found great fitting jeans at a good price, sent me a ton of cute dresses and found flattering pants I never would've tries. It's totally hit or miss. Some of the stuff looks cheap and doesn't wash well. But it's worth it for me because they do find pieces that I wouldn't and I love the surprise, when I'm unhappy, I just send it back with a note explaining why. I also use a pinterest board where I pin pieces and outfits I like to show them my style. That helps.

I thought I'd update this since I had to bite the bullet and either get maternity pants or bigger hair ties this weekend! lol

Liz Lange jeans at target ended up being perfect for me. They had up to size 18 in the store. I normally wear an 18W for work pants so I was afraid they'd be too tight, but I actually have a little room in them! I just HATE the horizontal distressing on the hips. What person (pregnant or not) wants their hips to look wider?? But I was desperate for comfy pants so I caved.

And thanks @mrs.shinerbock: for the Gap recommendation. Once I FINALLY found the Gap maternity store (hidden in the back of a baby Gap) they also had up to size 18 on the shelf. I only wish they had ankle length available in the store because I'm going to have to hem about a foot of fabric off those suckers! And I wish they came in more than just black.

I love this thread! Thanks for posting. Yes, let's talk fashion. I was smaller and loved being a fashion plate before my baby and now I'm a size 14 with super huge boobs and I have NO idea how to dress myself. I've been slowly learning. I also like Girl with Curves - she helps me think about what cuts might look good. I've also found that being a "tweenie" sometimes plus-size places just don't fit. I've had some success with StitchFix, believe it or not. They've sent me dresses and JEANS that actually fit. Sometimes it's been a disaster, but for the most part, It's helped.

@Chillybear: ugh same problem! I'm a size 12 right now, though I'm currently working on losing weight and hope to get back to an 8. But even as a 10-12, I don't fit into the plus size stores, and regular clothes just don't fit right. It's really annoying.

I have really good experience with LOFT, though i think they only go up to an XL, at a size 12 I'm a large there. I like their tops because some of them aren't as fitted, so they hide my stomach a bit more. They also have the curvy cut jeans, and they hit just below the belly button, and I like that higher rise.

I'm working on being less of this size but currently I am 18/20 more the 20 side of things in Jeans and bottoms.

I'm going to be following this. But, as surprising as it may sound, I've found A LOT of nice comfortable clothes at WalMart.

I'm loving all these suggestions!

For maternity clothes, I've had luck with GAP for pants (they go up to size 20) and Old Navy and Target for tops and dresses. Unfortunately, I'm not only big, but I'm tall (5'11") so even some of the maternity stuff isn't long enough and I'm really limited in pants.

Normal clothes - I like Torrid, but I have a hard time finding work-appropriate clothes there.
Lane Bryant occasionally has really great pieces, but most of their stuff fits funny and a lot of it is ugly as sin.
I always find things I love online at ASOS , but once they come in the fit is funny and it's usually polyester, so I end up sweating the whole time I wear it and hating it.
Much like my maternity clothes, I buy a lot of Old Navy (because it comes in tall) and Target tops and GAP pants.

I'm in the UK so the stores I have to choose from are different. I like ASOS and Simply Be.... but I find buying things online really difficult because I need to try things on. I'm a UK 16-18 now (US 12-14) but my weight is mostly around my middle so larger sizes tend to gape around my under arms or chest but smaller sizes cling around the middle or ride up, exposing my belly!

Yay! So happy to see so many other plus sized bees.

Personally I shop for professional clothes from Modcloth, Torrid, Eshakti (size 0-32!), Asos, and Simplybe (there sizing can be a little strange). I wait for sales, and also wait for Torrids Haute cash, I'll post the codes when they come out, it is their best deals.

For my funky-er wardrobe I like, Domino Dollhouse, Chubby Cartwheels, Redress (they sometimes have amazing vintage stuff), and Jibri (http://www.jibrionline.com).

@MaryM: I like the underwear from Torrid and Cacique

@lady grey: I love eshakti because you can do things like add sleeves and pockets as well as get a custom fit and it isn't a fortune. But give your order a lot of time, they can take forever as they are based in India.

I also have had really good luck at forever21 shockingly. Especially since I am much bigger then they run (I'm a 26/28).

I was planning to post something soon about plus size maternity clothes. Ima 16/18 and nearly 11 weeks. Went maternity clothes shopping this weekend and the maternity clothes were tighter than non-maternity clothes in the same store. I ended up just buying flowy clothes and the next size up

Following! I'm plus size (24/26) and I'm in a total fashion slump now that I've put my maternity clothes away. It seems like all of my pre-preg clothes just don't fit right, but I don't want to invest a ton of money in a new wardrobe because I'm hoping to lose some weight over the next year in preparation for my next pregnancy. (I had awful sciatica and back pain that I think was probably exacerbated by my weight, so I'd really like to go into the Pregnancy 2.0 about fifty pounds lighter.)

Any ideas for somewhat inexpensive clothes for a mid-thirties professional? (I'd love some cute workwear - blazers, dresses and blouses especially.)

@Chillybear: I'm a little bit bigger than you (16/18) but I run into the same problem. I saw a plus size blogger refer to it as being a "tweenie" the other day, because she's in between regular and plus.

My favorite store lately is Maurices. They have a lot of fun bright colors, trendy stuff plus basics, and I fit into either the XXL in their regular sizes, or 1 in the plus. At first I was leery of XXL because at Old Navy it's usually WAY different than the XL and below, but I really like the Maurices stuff. http://www.maurices.com

I'm a formerly plus-sized bee and just wanted to share some of my favorite online clothing spots, as they're annoyingly hard to come by!

I feel like I'm often in the same boat... I'm in this weird in between size where I wear a L/XL/XXL or 12/14 dress depending on the label and the cut. Reg stores - the clothes run small or aren't flattering in a larger size and plus size stores I'm on the smaller side and it is often too big in the wrong spots. I dont have the time to go out shopping for hours and try everything on and when I order online I feel like I have to buy at least 2 different sizes and then return most of it.
