@.twist.: I don't have any suggestions but I'm in the same boat. LO has a blowout just about every day mid morning. I've tried lots of different diapers but nothing can seem to contain her poop. Daycare obviously has lots of diaper experience and they haven't found a solution either - and they would love to not have to deal with it every day.

LO is finally eating solids (8 months) so her poop is firming up. I assume that will fix the issue. I hope you find something that works for you soon.

We tried a few brands, sometimes you need to test out a few before you find ones that work. We love the target brand. No blowouts ever, with either.

@.twist.: hmmmm.... so a couple thoughts, if he's peeing a lot at night, that will weight the diaper down and it will sag, maybe he's pooping when it's already full of pee/saggy and that's causing the blow outs because like you said it gets too low on his bum. have you used swaddlers before? they don't have as much sagging and absorb faster, even if you just used them as a night diaper. second thought, i would try getting it as tight as possible and trying to leave a little pouchy space in the rear of the diaper to try to catch it, if it's super close to his body when he poops it will cause it to just shoot straight up the back (they poop so violently! it's insane). third thought, does it happen less in pjs the have pants vs one piece sleepers? i wonder if just that little big of extra pressure from the waistband of the pants around the top of the diaper could help it from spilling over. i def think you are onto something with the midnight change because a pee soaked diaper isn't going to hold up to a poo-tastrophe.

@mrs. bird: he sleeps in his crib and we usually try to lay him propped up on his side on a rolled up blanket. I do try to leave room in the bum of the diaper, but maybe I need to be a little more conscious of it. I've noticed that when I do change his diaper after a blow out, the back is barely covering his butt. I don't know how that happens because I try to make sure the back is up high enough to cover everything!

@.twist.: does he sleep flat in a crib or reclined in a semi seated position (like he would be in a RNP, bounder, swing, or carseat)? are you able to pull the tushie of his diaper down and out a bit without creating big gaps in his legs?

@mrs. bird: they are coming up the back. I try to make sure all the gussets are free and it only seems to happen in the mornings. Like his first poop of the day. But even during the day time the poop goes all up the butt crack, not a blow out, but close! We use a woombie or swaddlemes.

Eta: you don't care about the swaddles. LOL. We use baby dry.

@.twist.: are you using baby dry or swaddlers? are the blow outs coming up his back or out from his legs? before you put the diaper on are you running your fingers down the inside of the diaper to make sure the gussets along the sides are as separated as much as possible from the center of the diaper? is it only happening when he's sleeping or all the time?

I would try a few other brands, but it may be an issue until he starts solids and has more solid poop.

So, we have been having some major blow out issues. At first I thought it was a size thing so we went up a size. We are now in size 2(OMG). Then I thought maybe I needed to do a middle of the night change so his dipe isn't filled with pee when he poops. However, the problem persists. This kid has poop force like no other. What did you do to fix blow outs? We are using pampers.

Maybe I need to switch diapers? Which ones are best? I've tried Huggies and hate them.

I was thinking about trying the target brand because I've kinda heard good things about them?
