@keiki_mama: it's called coxsackie virus and it lasts about a week. Other things to rule out are bullous impetigo and rocky mountain spotted fever, but coxsackie is highest on my differential.

@Mrs. Jacks: Actually, I'm not sure if they itch him anymore. We only saw him scratch it on Saturday briefly. He hasn't scratched it since then (that we know of).

HFM was going to be my guess as well. The dr told us it shouldn't itch though.

@Mrs. Jacks: Yes, they are on his palms and soles--we don't see them in his mouth. They are itchy. He had a fever on Friday and these didn't crop up until Sunday. They are no warmer than his regular skin.

@MrsRcCar: Thanks! I will look that up.

It could be Hand, Foot and Mouth. That looks like what C's did a few weeks ago when she had it!

Are they on palms and soles and is there anything in the mouth? Are they itchy? Is there a fever? And did they come up in crops? Are they warm?

We took LO to the doctor's on Saturday to get him checked out because his skin texture turned bumpy--the doctor ruled out chickenpox and said it was something viral that he picked up that would go away in a week or so. Obviously the week is not over but it looks so much worse than when we saw the doctor. They're itchy little suckers, we've had to keep LO is long sleeve shirts and pants to prevent him from scratching them.

What is this? Has your LO experienced something like this? Any remedies on making him feel less itchy? I feel so bad for this little guy.

ETA: they're concentrated on his arms and legs--torso and face not so much. Should I call the doctor and have her take a look again?
