Welcome to Seattle! My DD currently has a pair of Hatley rain boots and raincoat to match, and she loves them. They run big so there's plenty of space for thick socks if necessary. But like others have said, it doesn't get that cold here -- usually low to mid 40s in the winter and maybe a handful of snowy days. Of course, if you plan to go to the mountains in the winter, snow boots would be necessary, but not really in any of the lower-lying areas.

Welcome to the Seattle area! :) we've usually done cheap boots from Target but they usually break down after about six months or so. My mom gifted us hunter boots for the girls and they've been awesome. Really great quality and I think they will stand up to being passed down between the three girls.

I'm in Portland and my 2 year old he bogs last fall/winter. They worked great and we could layer socks for colder days if we needed to! They lasted all fall & winter and even into early spring. Totally worth it.
ETA we got an unusual amount of snow this past winter and they were great for that too!

We live on the Seattle area. We wear Hunters and Uggs but hunters prob get the most wear - it doesn't really get that cold here. More of the constant rain than freezing cold / snow

We live in the northeast but definitely get a lot of rain/snow. We've been doing unlined rubber rain boots (I like any kind that has those loops to help get them on) and the kids snow boots from llbean. The llbean ones we have have removable wool inserts that keep lo really warm. I'll use those for a rainy day if it's cold but it's nice to have unlined rubber boots for splashing around in warmer weather.

We live in Seattle. LO wears unlined rain boots (hunters) year-round. We do cotton socks in warmer weather and wool socks in the winter.

I did buy him snow boots last year, but he only wore them a couple of times. It doesn't get cold enough to snow very often. I'm thinking about getting some insulated bogs this year because he's doing an outdoor preschool (another parent recommended them). Those should work in the snow as well.

We just moved to Seattle from Chicago and I am looking for rain boots that would be good for the rainy season for my almost 2 year old. Should I get just a pair of unlined boots for fall/spring and something with some warmth for the colder months? Or could I get away with one style and just use thicker socks? We had a pair of bogs last year but I'm not sure if they would work well for this type of weather.

I was looking at these but I'm not sure if they will be warm enough for cold months or too warm for fall/spring. https://www.kamik.com/b2c_us_en/drizzly-8.html#color=blk

Any suggestions?

DDs LL Bean stuff from last year has stood up really well. Bonus, it has "grow cuffs" in the arms and legs where the seams can be undone to make them longer, so I don't have to buy her a new suit this year

Does anyone know where I can find decent quality boots for a toddler for under $30? I want to make sure I don't buy something that may hinder her given that she's only been walking a few months, but all of the boots I'm finding are $50! Any suggestions on good brands? Maybe I should just hope for a good black friday sale at Stride Rite?

In case it matters, my LO is almost 17 months, and wears a 5 or 5.5W.

@Sophs Mama: Thanks! How did you find your LO walked in them? Ok?

@Espion: Really? I think they look easier to slip on since there's no curves preventing their little feet from getting in. I know with regular boots, L doesn't help me put his feet in at all so getting past the toe curve is such a pain!

@scg00387: Thanks! I don't feel like our H&M has a great selection of stuff, but I will look there too. :)

@woodentulip: Thanks! I probably would be pretty cautious with him around ice anyway, so that doesn't bother me too much. When he gets to a point where he needs them for daycare or school I will try something with better grips! :D

@Mrs. Pen: What makes them not really walkable? Just the size? or shape?

@Mrs. Oatmeal: I would love to hear what you think! :D

@Rockies11: Thanks! That's good to know, I can probably do a medium then.
