LO woke up as usually around 7am, and I offered her a few bottles of freshly pumped milk. Lots of gnawing and chewing and a few dribbles probably made it into her mouth, but no sucks yet. She got cranky around 8am and passed out (her usual sleep time). We'll see what happens when she gets up again! :)

@corduroy - wow, what a success story! That makes me feel a lot better. A friend of mine just went through the same thing & gave up breastfeeding to make sure her LO would take a bottle at daycare (she was reverse cycling). The idea of that makes me super sad, so I'm glad to hear you were able to swing both breastfeeding & bottles. Again, really appreciate the support. :D *hugs!*

@sleepymonkey - so happy to hear your success story, too! And very happy to hear your LO didn't go crazy with breastfeeding while you were home. Even if the Bootcamp doesn't work, once push comes to shove, I'm hoping that she'll take a bottle once I go back to work. I'm also hoping I can laugh about this in a few months. Fingers crossed!

@zippylef - yes, I have that post as well as mrsbee's tips/tricks up on my laptop (http://www.hellobee.com/2011/12/29/tips-tricks-when-baby-refuses-the-bottle/). when the in-laws get here, we're going to review them all together. :D
Thank you for making sure I'd seen that!

this happened to us too...DH and i tried so hard for LO to take the bottle from months 2-4. i went back to work at 4 months, and my mom watched LO and she basically didn't drink anything all day. my mom had to dribble some in her mouth with a dropper i think, to get her to drink. the second day was better - maybe like 6oz, and i think the third day was when she drank normally. she kind of resisted a little after a weekend of nursing, but then after that she was fine. i nursed in the morning at 6:30am, then got back home around 5:30pm to nurse again on the first day. that night she sttn, she didn't do any reverse cycling. i only nursed during the hours that i was home for work and would be nursing normally. so 5:45 and then before bed, and in the morning. i've never fed her a bottle, only my mom, my MIL and DH have done it. good luck! i stressed out majorly over this...but i think she'll learn to take it and this will all be a distant (and funny) memory in a month :)

@nycbee: I thought she would eat more at night until we got things figured out but she didn't add any wake-ups (much to my relief). She stayed with one 4am feed.

Things got sorted out pretty quickly. She finished she bottles on the 3rd day. It took two weeks before DH was able to get her to take a bottle at home. He needed to be able to do it since he watches her on Friday. Once he could do it we started giving her one bottle a day on the weekend. That second weekend she took the bottle happily from ME.

We're one month into daycare and she's pretty content with her bottles at daycare. She still prefers the boob and eats like a starving person when I pick her up but I think that's just missing mom because she's gaining weight like a champ.

Sorry to write a book, again. I just really wish the best for you and want to give you encouragement because this issue stressed me out so much.

@corduroy - thank you for sharing your story & for the encouragement! I've been dreading Bootcamp but you're right! Hopefully that's not the final option. Question - does your LO nurse all night when you get home, to make up for eating less during the day (if they do eat less)?

@chai278 - brilliant idea! I haven't tried this yet. Will make sure to do it & will report back.

Thanks ladies :)
Really appreciate you chiming in!!!

The ONLY way I got DS to take bottle was to bf him, then insert bottle nipple and pull myself out. After many times of doing this it finally worked and was the only thing that worked. We did playtex ventaire bottle. Try this method! Good luck!

I was in a VERY similar sounding situation. I hope bottle bootcamp works for you. Unfortunately it didn't work for us but everything turned out ok anyway. Bottle bootcamp is not your final option.

DH tried several times on his own to get LO to take the bottle. Any bottle, every bottle. Three days a week. Eventually we called my parents in from out of town. They tried for a day but were unsuccessful. About 2 weeks before I went back to work I called daycare to confess that I hadn't gotten LO to take a bottle yet. They told me what everyone else had told me. LOs may be stubborn but they won't let themselves starve. I decided to enjoy my last two weeks of maternity leave and not touch the bottle at all.

I started LO at daycare full time 3 days before I went back to work. I'll be the first to admit LO had a rough first full day of daycare. She didn't eat until 3:45 and even then it was only an ounce or so. But it was better than any bottle boot camp day we had. The second day she ate at noon. After that we only had issues on Monday mornings.

LO typically only goes to daycare Mon-Thurs and DH watches her Friday, much like your in-laws will be watching yours. We actually had to send LO to daycare on Friday too in the beginning before she would take a bottle from DH.

Best of luck with your challenge!! I'm confident it will work out for you.

Bees - kind of last minute here, but looking for any advice or just moral support for a bottle bootcamp tomorrow. I plan to refuse the boob in order to force her to take a bottle.

My LO has refused to take a bottle the past 2.5 months (she's 4 mo), and I go back to work in 1 month. My ped recommended we get down to business with getting her to take a bottle before I go back to work.

My in-laws are in town helping with her tomorrow, so I'm enlisting their help. Down the line, we'll prob do a mix of in-laws and daycare for when I return to work.

A few questions for anyone who has done this:
- what was the last nursing feeding before doing the bottle strike? The night before, or did you nurse first thing in the AM then do bootcamp the rest of the day?
- once you got LO to take a bottle successfully, when did you try breastfeeding again? Were there any lapses after breastfeeding where LO went on strike again after nursing?
- did you have to do a bottle bootcamp a few times before you were successful?
- I assume bootcamp just lasts a day? My dr told me if she doesn't wet a diaper in 8 hours, I need to feed her. We did this before but can't remember what the diaper situation was since I wasn't tracking it.
- did you do any of the feedings during bottle bootcamp or did you have someone else do all of them? (I feel bad foisting LO on the in-laws, crying and screaming all day!)

I'm armed with a whole bunch of bottles (Avent, Medela, Dr Brown, Tommy Tippee, Momma, Comotomo), latex nipples, and some medium flow nipples (most are newborn so I got a faster flow one).

We'll be trying formula & breastmilk. I'm going to try to get the in-laws to do a lot of the feeding. I have to go out during the day for an appointment so we'll see if that helps.

We've tried this before, and I fed LO at 8am and then she went until 6pm without taking a bottle. :( (she took about 1/2 oz but I don't count that) We were all completely miserable at that point, so I nursed her at 6pm.
