After checking out Lucies list, we ended up getting this one:

https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=94006X1548270&xs=1&isjs=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FGraco-Glider-Elite-Swing-Pierce%2Fdp%2FB00Y286O6U%2F%3Ftag%3Dlucslis-20&xguid=252638e0acdfe25bf0d6661201a0786c&xuuid=7688202a1db1c889f539fe5af99a47ed&xsessid=87162473e7017e6ee06bc3a35b3e9ef7&xcreo=0&xed=0&sref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.lucieslist.com%2Fbaby-registry-basics%2Fbest-baby-swings%2F&pref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Furl%3Fsa%3Dt%26rct%3Dj%26q%3D%26esrc%3Ds%26source%3Dweb%26cd%3D1%26ved%3D0ahUKEwih1sLXk8nYAhXH6IMKHXrPDKoQFggqMAA%26url%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.lucieslist.com%252Fbaby-registry-basics%252Fbest-baby-swings%252F%26usg%3DAOvVaw0S1zwntMVX7CWLeQsoWF5y&xtz=300

We loved the small footprint, the movability, and the fact that it doubled as a bouncer. The seat is large and round, and DD napped in it a lot (we didn't have a rock n play, and she slept in a flat bassinet - so this was great when she was a little stuffed up and needed to sleep slightly inclined.)

Its is also battery powered or plugs in, so again we could have it anywhere. (I even put it in the bathroom so I could shower a few times!)

I guess the only drawback is that it only swings in one direction - but DD never complained!

Its kind of a guessing game until your meet your baby what they will/wont like. In a perfect world we'd all be able to take our newborns somewhere to try products out before we buy but thats not really possible.

We bought the fisher price snug a bunny collection (bouncer, rnp and swing). I would say we could have done without the bouncer, but it was also the cheapest so I didnt mind that wasted investment.

For us the best feature of the snug a bunny was that it plugged in (no batteries), played soft music, had a little birdie feature that rotated above their heads and was collapsable for transport.

My only gripe was that it swung a bit too hard for my LOs at first, nothing a bag or two of dried beans couldnt slow down! :)

It was worth every penny. Both of my girls loved it. They'd take 3 hour naps in it every day! :)

Here is ours:https://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Snugabunny-Cradle-Swing-Technology/dp/B01FF8H5Q8/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1515441312&sr=8-1&keywords=snuggabunny%2Bswing&th=1

I have the third one you posted about. I never wanted a swing and tried every other smaller option. But I broke down and accepted a second hand swing identical to the third one you posted and it was a total game changer. There is a huge difference between the true swinging motion side to side and the from-the-bottom swinging motion. Anyhow... I found the swing to be safe and I'm going to use it again for #2. Not looking forward to it taking up so much floor space in my tiny home, but it truly was worth it in my opinion.

Reviews are overwhelming and I read one that mentioned their fisher price swing catching fire--which terrified me.

Hoping you all have some favs or advice for choosing the safest/best option for the baby...

I like this one, because it has a bassinet feature and allows you to connect your own music, etcetera--also, it has an AC adapter with it and multiple direction swing with detachable rocking features.
https://www.toysrus.com/product?productId=114491146

I like that this one has an AC Adapter and multiple directions/bouncer option:
https://www.toysrus.com/product?productId=119435406

Just saw an HB mom post about this one:

@avivoca: Thanks for weighing in on a battery-operated swing. Awesome to hear you don't have to change batteries that frequently!
@BadgerMom: I thought about it as being a good "white noise" option, too, but it was very uneven sounding. I listened to a mamaroo today at BBB and it was definitely quieter than the rockaroo we had.
@LovelyPlum: I listened to one at BBB today for comparison, and it really makes me think ours had an issue with the motor. It was way louder than the one in the store! Great to hear that you love it, though-we might circle back to it depending on our research

We have a mamaroo and it is pretty loud too. Are you trying to get a quieter one for the baby or you? Because I think our baby actually likes the repetitive "white noise" the motor makes.

It doesn't plug in, but we have the travel size Fisher Price rainforest friends swing. It's super quiet even as she's gotten heavier (she's sleeping in it right now and weighs 19.2 pounds). We don't have to replace the batteries very often in it, maybe once every 3 months, but we use it mainly on the weekends now since she's in daycare. It's pretty neutral.

@BakerBee: Thanks for the rec! Hope all is going well with your little guy:-). I am returning the Rockaroo today and am going to stand in the store and listen to motor/movement noise of all the swings at BBB. Love that this one is pretty tiny!
@Mrs. Yoyo: Glad to hear a vote for sungabunny! I was a nanny, and recall the 'creaking' phase when they got bigger. That noise isn't so bad....it was unbelievable how loud the motor was on the Rockaroo. I think I might have a defective one...

We had the snugabunny, which was fairly quiet until our chunker got bigger (then it would "creak" sometimes). It's kind of big, but it was neutral and wasn't an eyesore. It plugs in.

We have the Comfort Harmony swing and I think it's fairly quiet. We actually picked it based on size, too. I'm glad we didn't get a huge one because my son absolutely hates the swing (but we haven't put it up yet and admitted this to ourselves). It does require batteries, though, but we haven't used it enough for that to be a problem.

We just opened up our 4moms Rockaroo, and my husband thinks the motor is way too loud. I told him I'm pretty sure all swings have motor noise, but I admit it is pretty loud. Before I go through the trouble of returning it, I figured I'd see if anyone can recommend a swing with a quieter motor? The reason I picked the Rockaroo was its size (smaller than most!), the fact that it can be plugged in (instead of using batteries), and it is not an 'eyesore' in the living room. However, if there's a better option out there, please let me know!

Check out the go-pod. It is $50ish. We have bouncers and jumpers but I'm considering it for when we go camping and for sticking in the kitchen or bathroom once they are mobile. It folds up pretty small, which would be way nicer for day to day storing than our massive jumperoo.

@shopaholic: Hip Dysplasia is what a lot of people are concerned about. It can come from exersaucers, jumperoos, etc. People don't seem to realize that it can also come from wearing baby improperly in a carrier too.

@travelingbrit: I had to get rid of the guest bed that was in the nursery, there just wasn't room! But I have been trying out the rocker & glider and dang that thing is comfy! We have another guest bedroom next to the nursery, so I will sleep in there if need be.
@prettylizy: Oh I can't imagine DH being okay with that! We even have blackout curtains for him in the master! But we do have enough space in our room for the UBV bassinett & the Snugabunny Swing in case I need the baby in our room. I know my BFF's baby slept more in her swing than her PnP the first several months!

@shopaholic: My DH is a terrible sleeper too, I ended up kicking him out of our room for 3 weeks when she was a newborn and he slept in the guest room! I wanted her in our room (in the bassinet from our Britax or our PnP) until we hit our groove. We also had the SnugABunny swing in our room for a few weeks because she sleps the most in that thing and I needed the rest.

@banana: Ah. Thanks for the info. Will look into it further.

@shopaholic: Good luck! Hopefully your LO does better with the crib than Benji. Since our nursery was our guest room, we kept the queen bed in there temporarily. I've been sleeping in there with him so that SO can get some sleep and I can wake during the night.

@shopaholic: Yeah, talk to your ped and see what he/she says. My ped tends to be more conservative than most so I don't know how common these hip problems really are.

@banana: I vaguely remember hearing about how they are not good for the hips and legs too! No, I was just trying to fill a price-point gap in our registries, . I think I will add the RnP if we need to closer to the shower.

I think I will have to consider a bouncer/jumperoo more and talk to the ped about it as well.

@MamaMoose: @travelingbrit: Sounds like a good reason to have the RnP, but for now, I'm hoping we can stick to the baby sleeping in her nursery. DH works crazy long hours and is a pitifully light sleeper. I just can't imagine him getting any rest at all if we have the baby in our room. :(

@travelingbrit: My ped recommended against it because she's seen many babies with hip/joint problems due to jumpers. I don't know the specifics but she mentioned something about how jumpers cause the babies to put too much pressure on their toes, which isn't natural and is bad for development. She said they're ok as long as your baby doesn't spend too much time on it (no more than 10 minutes at a time, a few times a day). If you're going to use it sparingly, it should be ok though! If we received one as a gift, I might use it sparingly but I'm not planning to go out and buy one myself.

@banana: what was the reason against them? We got one as a Christmas gift but don't want to use it if they aren't safe.

We didn't get a jumper because our ped recommended against them. But we are thinking about getting an exersaucer so that my DD can spend a few minutes in it while I prepare dinner and stuff. So I would say nay to the jumper for now. Can you buy some of this stuff later on or did you want to take advantage of your registry completion discount?

We bought a bouncer and swing. Thought the rock and play was redundant. Benji hates the bouncer.

I saw the rock and play on sale for $30 on amazon and decided to buy it and check it out since returns are free.

I AM IN LOVE. So is benji. He sleeps so much better in it than the crib and I can put it right next to the bed. I drag it to the living room during the daytime and will set him in it if I need my hands free to check the mail, put dinner in the oven etc.

Like maisymay and mamamoose said its great to take with you if you are visiting others. Personally I would skip the bouncer and get the rnp instead.
