@Mrs. Lion: That's what this other doctor was just telling me too, about it happening to full term newborns who aren't monitored, I really feel like our doctor has been over cautious and keeping us here for no reason, causing us a lot of extra stress, I wasn't sure if I was going crazy but I'm starting to think I was right, she has never once required stimulation!

@Mrs. Pom Pom: In the early days D needed "moderate stimulation" after Bradying, which is the last step before CPR. I just wanted to make sure you weren't in that boat!

@Mrs. Pom Pom: oh I'm glad. It seems to me that she will outgrow this soon, and that she'll do great at home. D Brady'd a few hours before we were supposed to be discharged (didn't need stimulation) and the nurses started to freak but our doc was calm, said that was exactly why we were going home with an apnea monitor. I'd just keep making your case and being rock star parents to everyone.

@Mrs. Pom Pom: Any "brady" that didn't require stimulation didn't reset our 5 day count. He had several that he recovered from on his own...the nurses said that most babies have those and nobody ever notices because they aren't attached to monitors.

@Mrs. Tiger: Her episodes are usually just while eating or within a half hour after so we're always right there looking at her. She had one in her sleep after being placed down on her back immediately after eating over night while we weren't here, but she has no apnea and she's never had a bad enough episode that she had to be stimulated or had any change in her color. I keep wondering if I'm over confidant and should be more worried, but I really feel that she'll be better off at home.

LO had some bradys, but they weren't reflux related so I have no advice. Just want to send hugs. It is so frustrating to be so close and then start the countdown over :( I hope they figure it all out soon so you can go home!! <3

@Mrs. Tiger: she doesn't need any of that, she recovers on her own, and at this point she needs is caring for her to hold her upright after eating etc so I feel she'd be doing better at home and I've made this case repeatedly! My husband and I are now taking shifts and making sure one of us is always here to help prevent episodes. I actually just talked to the head doctor and he seems much less concerned then her regular doctor so were scheduled to discharge tomorrow. Her regular doctor will be back though and I'm just so nervous, this process has become so stressful with the multiple discharge disappointments. She says she's keeping her here so we'll have peace of mind when we leave but it's had the opposite effect. Speaking with the head doctor made me feel better, but I won't be able to relax until we're walking her out the door!

D was home with an apnea monitor. What are her episodes like? How does she recover? Positioning, stimulation/whacking, suctioning? If you would feel comfortable doing those things for her at home, I would start doing ot at the NICU and then make your case to bring her home.

Anyone have any experience with reflux and bradycardia? We are currently stuck in the intermediate nursery because of episodes due to reflux, the date has been pushed back each day this week, we get so close and then she Brady's. They're going to send us home on an apnea monitor but they still want to wait until there are no severe episodes for 48 hours and it's starting to feel like we might be here a lot longer than we thought. Has anyone else experienced this? How did your doctors handle it? Any advice?
