So when I had bleeding in early pregnancy it actually took weeks to go completely away which I think is normal for bleeding in early pregnancy if you do bleed or have an SCH. I had a VERY early vanishing twin and an SCH. I know you can't help but worry, though. It took three ultrasounds to see a heartbeat for my son, and he's 2.5 now. It was very scary. Keeping you in my thoughts & prayers, hope it stops soon and your appointment goes well!

😥 PLEASE HELP, So I’ve been diagnosed with high-risk pregnancy due to not having a thyroid. I was bleeding yesterday it was more red not superheavy but dripped a little. I went to the emergency room they said my cervix is closed but they found a 2.6 hemorrhage on wall. I looked everywhere I don’t even know if that’s a small or medium one. No cramps Some back pain but I’ve have back problems anyway so I don’t know the difference. When I went to the hospital they did the blood test and said my cervix is closed and minimal bleeding. They did a vaginal ultrasound and saw the baby and good heartbeat along with the hemorrhage. I’m home and there are tiny dots of red when I pee. I’m really scared and trying not to stress so I need peace of mind. Has anyone experienced anything like this and has been fine? I have 2 days til I see my ob and really wigging out. PLEASE HELP. 😿

@jh524: thank you so much, that definitely makes me feel better! I am very cautiously optimistic that things are improving. Last night I had much much less when I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night and so far during the day it has been light to almost nonexistent and only on tissue.

DH has been amazing about keeping me off my feet and DD and I have done a lot of book reading in the couch.

FX that I have a relatively quick resolution like you did! I have been able to feel baby's movements which is some comfort :)

@hoogirl05: wow I literally could have written this post myself. I had bright red bleeding and a lot of cramping around 13-14 weeks. I chalked it up to overdoing it physically and I took a week off and it slowly went away. No exercise whatsoever and just laid around for a week. I had 2 ultrasounds and vaginal exams during this time and baby looked great and heartbeat was fine. My cervix was closed and dr saw no issues. Doctor didn't have an answer but did warn me it could be a sign of miscarriage but pretty rare around this stage of pregnancy. I also got a Rhogam shot for the bleeding.
I hope your bleeding and cramps go away and everything is just fine like my experience wth this about a month ago.

1st pregnancy: spotting started at ~5wks, and I wasn't worried because I thought I'd heard it was common. I ended up m/c'ing at 6.5wks.

2nd pregnancy: I bled heavily 1 day at 5wks & thought I'd m/c again, but my sweet baby girl was born at 40w1d!

As others have said, the bleeding sure didn't seem to correlate to the outcome, so wishing you the best!

First pregnancy, no bleeding/spotting/anything, healthy baby.
Second pregnancy, brown/pink spotting from 9-11w, HB at 10w, no HB at 11w.
Third pregnancy, bright red gush of bleeding at 6w, HB a few days later, still healthy pregnancy right now at 19w. They diagnosed me with borderline progesterone and treated for the rest of the first trimester, but said it was just caution and they could see no real reason for the bleeding.

So basically, no pattern between bleeding/healthy pregnancy for me.

I spotted a little bit when I got my BFP and then had full out bleeding (gushes of bright red blood) from 7 - 8 weeks. The ultrasound at 7 weeks showed a heart rate of 80/90 so we were pretty much preparing ourselves for a loss. Went back for a follow up at 8 weeks and everything was normal! She's now 7.5 months :)
It's so scary... Wishing you the best!

With my first, I had horrific cramping for the first eight weeks. Like doubled over in pain, gasping for breath kind of cramping. It wasn't constant but would come in fifteen minute waves a few times a day. I went for a dating scan and to make sure it wasn't ectopic, but everything was done and they just chalked it up to my uterus stretching. DD was born on her due date so it was obviously nothing to worry about in my case.

@Truth Bombs: That does sound dramatic! Glad it all turned out well.

@T.H.O.U: @Foodnear81: Great to hear your positive stories!

I'd feel more comfortable if they had diagnosed the cause at all, but my specialist was quite blasé about it and was more focussed on there being a heartbeat. I know sometimes progesterone is prescribed, but it seems to be rather hard to get hold of in UK.

So far I've had cramping and some quite severe stretching (weeks 4-5).
Pale spotting and a sudden bright red bleed - was convinced it was all over (week 6), then good heartbeat and growth confirmed.
Now (in week 7) the pale spotting is back with a constant tight feeling in lower pelvis.

The first tri stage is just plain scary!

With LO #1, I bled from 5wk to 13wk, and that included some bad episodes. As you may remember, I've also been spotting lightly this pregnancy, and I've had a good ultrasound, but just 8 weeks. For me personally, I've spotted every time I've been pregnant with good and bad outcomes, I honestly don't think you can judge by bleeding. It's sooooo hard though!!!

I had spotting throughout my pregnancy with my daughter. They decided it was due to a friable cervix. The pregnancy was sort of dramatic (pre term contractions and a number of ER trips) but my daughter was born completely healthy at full term. With this pregnancy I spotted at 5 weeks and had some cramping with it. Never spotted again. I'm currently 37 weeks. Prior to both kids I had a miscarriage that started with spotting that eventually got heavier and heavier until it was full bleeding.

Hi all,

I'm intrigued to hear what other's experiences have been of any 'unusual events' (spotting, bleeding, cramps, etc) during their pregnancies and how you are getting on now.

I've had bleeding and spotting with my current pregnancy after previous losses (still early days), but had healthy heartbeat confirmed, so trying to ignore it. I wasn't given any indication as to the cause - I'm wondering whether many others are / have been in a similar position and if you'd like to share your experiences?

@hoogirl05: That's awful that it is ongoing like this but at least everything looked good today!
The placental abruption happened to me in the middle of the night. No one knows what caused it but luckily it was minor (even though it seemed like a lot of blood to me) and the ultrasound they did showed everything is ok. My next US is next week and I am curious if the dr will be able to see the tear in the placenta on it and of course hoping my baby is staying strong and healthy.

Update from me: Had another bout of dark brown bleeding this morning, seems mostly in the am after I've been lying down all night. And then goes back to nothing more than spotting for most of the rest of the day. My doc was definitely stumped by that one since it's more logical to assume being up/walking would make it worse, not lying down.

At my visit this morning, cervix was completely normal, baby and heartbeat looked great. She thought she could see a spot that might be the source of the bleeding on the u/s and I could see it once she pointed to it. So she referred me to a maternal-fetal medicine doc (MFM) and I go for a transvaginal (ugh) u/s there on Wednesday mid-morning.

Anyone else ever had more bleeding once they got UP from lying down vs when they walked or were up and about?
