@foodiebee: I'm sorry you are going through this too! I don't know much about endo, I had 2 successful pregnancies and didn't have any trouble getting pregnant, so it has never been a suspicion before. I'm going to ask my doctor about it though, and pay closer attention to my pain symptoms, since I've always just focused on the spotting.

@lamariniere: Yes, I have very similar symptoms to this, including the rectal pain, living on the toilet during my period, groin aches/pains, etc. Also horrible back pain, night sweats, hot flashes. I also had a very short luteal phase, consistently around 10 days, longest ever was 12. I'd start spotting around 8-9 days and then get AF on day 10. My RE diagnosed me with endo unconfirmed via surgery (but every dr I've ever seen has been pretty convinced based on my symptoms; no one feels like there's any doubt) because we decided to move straight to IVF first.

@lamariniere: Worth checking out for sure but could be just random ... that’s what we concluded at least for that red bleeding cycle of mine, it also started really early but next was back to “normal”. I hope it’s just one weird cycle to have it starting so early!

@bhbee: your spotting sounds similar to mine, but this month it started about 4dpo, which is unusual for me and sparked my visit to the gyno. I have really painful ovulation, especially on the right side. I occasional have the rectal pain, but not often. Cramps are usually not that bad, I don’t take any pain relievers for them.

@lamariniere: do you have the pain issues also or just spotting?

It’s normal for me to spot like crazy. I’ve never gotten resolution nor honestly had anyone very concerned, more like “well that’s unfortunate maybe you should try birth control”. I once got an ultrasound for a bunch of midcycle red bleeding. But my norm would be to spot by 11dpo if not 9dpo and progress to get AF around 16dpo. And AF can drag out with spotting also. Super annoying, but it did let me know early about failed ttc cycles ...

Bump!

I know this is an old thread, but my spotting issues have become very similar to the OP's. I saw my gyno this week who did an US of my uterus (normal) and ran a PAP, HPV and STD testing to rule out anything (all negative). I am not TTC. She said the next course of action is antibiotics for 10 days in case the testing missed something, and if bleeding continues after, a hysteroscopy. Has anyone had a similar experience, or previous posters, have your issues resolved?

With my second child, I didn't think I was pregnant because I started spotting just as I always did before my period. Well, that baby will be eight months old tomorrow, so clearly I thought wrong!
That test looks positive to me, congratulations!

When I was 34 and TTC for the first time, I had a few hours of bleeding like the start of my period the day after I got my BFP, and then some spotting afterward. But it was a healthy pregnancy and my daughter is now almost 2. I think my body just took a while to call off AF.

Congrats on what I am fairly certain is a BFP. I would confirm with a pink dye test because they are more reliable than the blue ones.

It looks positive to me :)

ETA: If you got a positive OPK 23, I would say you ovulated 24/25? So if that's the case I would say you're 10/11 dpo. The spotting then fits with implantation.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this board and TTC baby #1 for the past 5 months :) I am also 34 going on to 35 this week. I wanted to share my story and questions. Please bear with me as this may be long and will contain tmi.

I have been TTC for about 5 months and only this past month did I start to use OPKs to pinpoint my ovulation since I was sure I was missing it. (we are also using preseed) Up till now I had been using an app to chart my periods and used their "ballpark" time frame for ovulation. My periods have always been irregular and my cycle is about 30 days or so. Since I was about 31 my periods have started to change and my usual is I spot brown for about 5 days (could be more or less depending on the month) before my actual "heavy" period shows up, when it does show up it lasts about 3 days and it's gone.

Last cycle I used a OPK the day after it ended and there was a faint line but I didn't think anything of it and waited until 7 days after to test, that day (sept 22) I had a light ovulation line which was not quite as dark as the control line but not as light as when I had checked it the day after my period. The day after I checked again and it was super dark, darker even that my control line so hubby and I dtd. I only had ewcm on the 22,23 and by the 24th it was ending (dtd again). We also dtd on the 27 and 28th but I think at that point it was well after my fertile period and I started experiencing cramping around that time and the "shop" was closed. I think because of this my ovulation date may have been the 23rd?

On the 28th, 29th and 30th I experienced cramps and my boobs were extremely heavy, painful and radiated heat. Then it all went away on Oct. 1st. Since Oct 2nd I have been experiencing brown spotting (with old flakey blood) , which comes and goes during the course of the day (since 3rd have been using a panty liner just in case). I really don't have sore boobs or feel much but the occasional minor minor cramp/bloat on my right side.

At this point I'm pretty much thinking i'm out since I get brown spotting like this every month. It's a bit annoying for me and I have brought it up to many gynos and they all say your fine. I do get tiny ovarian cysts during some cycles but they go away or rupture/absorb themselves back. This is stressing me out because i'm not sure how I will know when I'm pregnant with this spotting..

In any event, this morning I took a family dollar pregnancy test and there was a super faint line on there. It's hard to photograph, what do you guys think?

I think I'm about 12dpo but I'm not entirely sure, I could be 11 or 13? Any advice?

@Adira: thank you.

@kodybear: thanks. I pray it's nothing. I did have intercourse and the spotting started after that. I just don't think I should be spotting that long after.

I had brown spotting with my first pregnancy (at 5/6 weeks) that lasted for about 4 days. And then again for two days a few weeks later. I was terrified. But it was fine. Just implantation bleeding the doctor said. Baby burrowing in more. I had two miscarriages with subsequent pregnancies and they started with pinkish bleeding and got heavy quickly, like a period. My fingers are crossed for you, but I am betting you are OK.

i had an irritable cervix for both pregnancies and a cervical polyp for my second pregancy so i basically saw red/pink/brown spotting from about 5 weeks to 12 weeks both times. but everything turned out okay in the end. hoping everything is okay for you!
