I clean ours out with warm water and dish soap, and a dilute vinegar chaser. We saw this and thought how gross it was, so we cut ours open. There was not even a spec of mold on it. We are Nose Frida users, but I have used the bulbs in the past and yesterday I did let DS carry around an old bulb he found lying around the house.
