We had the BRU ones before but N just pulled them off.
@T.H.O.U.: I like your idea. Is it easy to take on and off because we still use our fireplace.

We just bought the foam corners and edge covers. They stick just fine for us--you have to really make sure the substrate is super clean and dry before, though. Fireplaces are kinda dusty and not an optimal sticking surface.

@MrsRcCar: We just have soft foam ones from BRU, but they don't stick too well and pieces keep falling off so I wouldn't necessarily recommend them.

H purposely kicks her legs through the slats (heathen!), and we tried a breathable bumper and it basically became a game to her to kick it down bc it was so collapsible. So at 6 months we just decided to go with a real live bumper to try to tame her. I think at this point she would roll away if she ever got her face stifled into a bumper.

We weren't going to use them, but from early on he would get his arms and legs stuck in between the bars, so we got this one:
http://www.target.com/p/breathable-mesh-crib-liner-by-breathablebaby-sage/-/A-10953560#prodSlot=medium_1_3&term=breathable+bumpers

We took it down once we lowered the crib the first time (~6-8 months?), by that point he had stopped shoving his arms and legs out.

I considered getting a mesh one but decided against it after Mrs. Jacks said that bumpers present more of a strangulation hazard (vs suffocation). Looking back, I don't think we would have used the bumper for that long anyway.

I know there has been many previous posts about this but thought I'd ask again! Do you use breathable mesh bumpers for your LO's crib?? If so, is there a brand you recommend? LO is five months old and rolling around banging her head on the rails and sticking her legs out the slits. I know bumpers are a no no but I'm considering possibly getting a mesh breathable one.

@Weagle: I agree with you, but I think as they get older sometimes all they need is that little .5" advantage to get over the side of the crib.

We have had a breathable one on her crib since day one. I love it. Nothing falls out, her legs/arms stay in, I don't worry about suffocation, and I don't think she can use it to climb out. It was the perfect compromise for me.

@Amelieisme: hahhahahahah omgosh! So cool how he stayed asleep despite his positioning :)

We use a mesh/breathable bumper. It def does the job and is safe too.
We do own a padded bumper but I wouldn't use that until he was a lot older...maybe like 10m? That is if his movements become so aggressive that I fear he may hurt himself. By then I guess his ability to wake himself up (if breathing was restricted) would be better since he is much older.

I had them for my older sons because the AAP hadn't released that they were bad yet. We had them in my daughters in the beginning for looks when she was still in her bassinet. Then took them out. They come with the crib sets which now seem silly since we didn't use much of it.

People keep talking about how LOs use them to climb out of the crib, but I don't see how that works in practice. In theory, yes. When LO actually stands on the bumper they just compress down to mattress level. They give her a maybe .5 inch advantage.

Nope... AAP recommends against them for SIDS and you have to take them out once they can pull to stand so they don't use them to climb up the side of the crib. It just didn't seem worth the $ for the short amount of time they can be used. BUT this is how we woke a few mornings ago...
