How old will your LO be? The bay side (north side) of the Cape has calmer waters and beaches where the tide goes WAY out so it's perfect for little ones to play in the tide pools. My favorite cape beach is Mayflower beach in Dennis. I'm not too sure about lodging, because I always stay with friends/family, but there are plenty of B&Bs and little hotels in the area.

I agree that MV would be a lot more $$, but if you have a car, you can do a day trip (or a day trip to Nantucket).

I would actually recommend a house rental. My husband and I stayed in Chatham for a week when I was pregnant and it was much cheaper to rent a house than stay in a hotel - and it was great because it had a full kitchen, separate rooms, laundry. These are all things I would want while traveling with a 9 mo (the age of my baby now). Definitely stay close to the beach - 9 mo's really like their schedules, so you will want to be able to go "home" for naps. Separate rooms will also be key for bedtimes - you and your husband will then be able to enjoy yourselves without being in the same room as a sleeping baby.

I'm jealous!! I'm partial to MV since that's "our spot" but it will be a bit more expensive with the ferry, if you have a rental car, etc. Maybe stay somewhere on land but close enough so you can do day trips to/from MV, Cape, etc.? We rented a house this past year through http://www.homeaway.com since they didn't charge a fee like http://www.airbnb.com did.

I wish that I had more specific recommendations, but since I live on the Cape I don't have to deal with lodging stuff too often! But, I would suggest Falmouth. It's one of the closest Cape towns to Boston and the ferry to MV runs from town (2 different ferry companies to choose from). It has a very walking friendly downtown and a couple of really family friendly beaches that I could give you more info on if you decide to go (like parking secrets, etc!). I don't know much about condos or hotel with kitchens, but there are SEVERAL hotels/resorts/inns in town to choose from.

PM me if you have more specific questions and I can see what I can do to answer :)

I'm so excited! My husband just told me that he has a work trip in Boston in June, so we are planning on extending it for a weeklong New England beach vacation! We just moved to the Midwest, so I'm very excited to introduce our daughter to the ocean :)

Does anyone have suggestions on where to stay? We are open to any of the beach towns within a few hours drive from Boston. We'd like to stay at a place that has a kitchen/kitchenette and laundry in the unit. We'd also like to be very close to the water for good views on the balcony while the little one takes naps.

A hotel/condo would be ideal, but we are open to a house rental (although, I'm not sure that makes financial sense with just two adults and a baby). Any suggestions would be appreciated!!
