@pachamama: thanks! I’m off the zofran Pump as I had an allergic reaction at the site to it. I still have the HG pretty badly and take my meds like clockwork. My new job has been super supportive and are always asking if I’m okay and how I’m feeling. I’ll start teleworking full-time in four more weeks!

@dc yoga bee: Glad to hear everything is ok!

I got into an accident at 38 weeks. Airbags deployed and my car was totaled. Other than air bag burns on my arm I felt fine. Ambulance wanted to take me to a trauma center but I insisted on going to the hospital where I had planned to give birth. They checked me out and listened to the heartbeat in the ER.

As a precaution they sent me to L&D for a fetal monitor. The baby’s oxygen levels dipped and the doctor came in to tell me they felt more comfortable delivering the baby to monitor. DH was out of town for work and ended up watching my C-section vis FaceTime thanks to MIL joining me in the OR. Thankfully baby boy and I had no complications.

I was in an accident at 37 weeks. It wasn't bad, no airbags or anything. The baby was fine. I didn't get checked out though, which in retrospect was a terrible idea. I should have at least called my OB. Sorry that happened!

Minor accident, 28 weeks, everything was fine though I did go to OB triage and stayed for 4 hours monitoring.

My friend was in a rollover accident at 28 weeks and even though the baby stopped kicking / moving for a while, she was on hospital monitoring for the night / day and baby was fine.

Everything is okay! Midwife said I could get an ultrasound and 4 hour monitoring if I’d like but chances of placenta abruption were slim to none based on how I described the accident. She listened to baby’s heartbeat and it was perfect! Thank you ladies!

I totaled my car in my second trimester and demanded the ambulance take me to a hospital (instead of the urgent care they suggested for my ankle and chest pain requiring xrays) so I could have OB's take a look. They did an ultrasound to confirm baby was okay-they did it immediately as I was a hysterical mess until I saw the baby was alive. They put monitors on me and saw I was having contractions I couldn't feel. It was scary but they said it was very common when the body has a trauma like I did and they were slowing down and stopped before I left. I would think a bus you were riding getting hit wouldn't be a huge cause for concern.

I had a super minor one with my second in my third trimester but like I think I was borderline of just entering the 3rd trimester. It was really minor and I called my practice and they told me to go to the ER. I declined. Everything was fine. I think you know how you’re feeling.

With my 3rd baby, I tripped in my garage while holding my second at lien 37 weeks. I mentioned it the next day at my appt and they made me get a non stress test. Again, everything was fine. Little girl took another like 4 weeks to make her appearance 🙄

My friend had two accidents while pregnant (different pregnancies). She was monitored for a few hours after one and the other she just got checked out the next day  and was fine both times.

I hope you and babe check out just fine!!

darn DC traffic!! (was also where my friend had her accidents.. one on 95s and one on 495)

ETA: the one that she was monitored after was pretty severe.. she rear ended someone and totaled both cars.

the other one was minor rear end both cars drivable after.

so that might play into it too

I was around 26 weeks. Baby was perfectly fine, despite the fact I totaled my car and the airbags deployed. My doctor's office did require an overnight hospital stay with a wreck of my severity, which was annoying. Since you were on a bus (as opposed to in a car individually), I'd think you were okay  , but I'm glad you are getting checked out!

Anyone in a car accident in their third trimester. 32 weeks tomorrow and my bus got sideswiped this morning. I was jolted into the seat in front of me, but did not hit my belly. I have an appointment with the midwives this afternoon and feel totally fine. Until I googled car accidents while pregnant that is!

@lauren0817: oh, of course! My doctor told me it was a variation of normal and to not worry....I went home and cried and googled the crap out of it. Think about when our parents had us... they had none of this fancy stuff! We are so lucky to be able to be monitored! It's so hard though, you are carrying the most precious thing ever and it's not like you can reach in there and give them a hug and tell them you are doing everything you can to protect them and get them out healthy and happy :) I am glad you have gone from full freak out to concerned... stay strong, mama!

@jlm22: thank you for sharing your experiences - it is so reassuring to hear! My doctors have been really calm and reassuring, but it's almost like they can only reassure me so much - now that we have this information it's hard not to worry (at least a little bit). I guess now I have gone from full freakout mode to concerned but generally okay so that is a big improvement :)

@lauren0817: Great update! How scary and nerve wracking have the past couple of weeks been for you! Knowing to much info is bittersweet... It's great because doctors can monitor you that more closely, but stinks because it (usually) causes unnecessary stress! The cord wasn't attached at the center of the placenta for me, so I had some extra ultrasounds to make sure the baby was getting enough nutrients and growing. It ended up being a non-issue and I had a healthy 7lb 10oz baby girl. (Via c-section...she flipped at 39 weeks so it wasn't related to the placenta issue! I had a great c-section experience, so if it comes to that, don't worry!) Science and technology is awesome, trust your docs :) Hugs to you!

I just wanted to post a quick update - we have had weekly appointments with our doctor since our echocardiogram a couple of weeks ago and the doctors haven't been able to hear the arrhythmia. We are hoping it is gone and we can put this scare behind us. In terms of the placental issue, the doctors have been very reassuring and say there is really nothing to be concerned about and they will just make sure to get both pieces during delivery. I will have an extra third trimester growth ultrasound (at 32 weeks) to make sure baby is growing okay, but the doctors really aren't anticipating growth issues with the particular placental issue that I have. I am so thankful and feeling a lot better - now I am just hoping and praying for a healthy rest of pregnancy and delivery. Thank you everyone for supporting me when I really, really needed it!!

@T.H.O.U.: thank you so much - I agree too much information can be so scary. I love your suggestion about how to think about stats - as soon as I hear the 1 in whatever I start to think about what if I'm that 1? The percentages are much easier to think about right now. I'm meeting with my doctor on Tuesday and will run through a plan with them - I think that will be really helpful for me since I like to know what is happening or could happen.

@ms.line: thank you so much! Pregnancy can be so scary even at the best of times and this week is definitely a huge test of my ability to cope with all of this. Thankfully I know my doctors will take care of the medical side of things - my job is to try to stay calm and positive :)

@skipper2010: thank you! That is great advice :) I'm going to try to remind myself that my doctors know what they're doing and are taking great care of us.

@raindrop: thank you so so much for your kind words - I really appreciate it :)

@bluebonnet: thank you so much for sharing your experience - I am so happy to hear that your placenta didn't cause any issues! My doctor said it's actually pretty common, but women don't always know before labor. At least now I know they can be prepared.

@winter_wonder: thank you so so much!

@hellobeeboston: thank you for sharing your experiences. I am starting to realize how scary pregnancy can be - even minor complications seem so scary because there is always so much uncertainty. I'm feeling a bit more positive today and really focusing on reducing my stress levels.
