An A+A blanket will be nice to tuck around her in the seat, but definitely won't protect against the wind and cold in February. I refuse to be stuck in the house all the time after she comes, so I snatched one up right after I got my carseat. It was worth the $13 shipping. The way I see it is that I paid $13 for it with free shipping. It's nice and thick and I think muffles noise pretty well, especially at restaurants. So when my 7-month-old needs to nap in his car seat while we're out I just close it and he knows to take a nap. It's also good in the winter when it's cold out. And it doesn't get blown away like how blankets do when it's windy out. My only complaint is the fabric selection. I'm not a fan of any of them so picked the black and white with a dark grey interior. It's probably the most neutral of all the fabrics b/c every time I see one it's the same pattern as ours. So to answer your question, I use it for sun, cold, and privacy (naps). It really doesn't take up much room b/c it'll be on your car seat most of the time anyway. She kicks them off, they fall and get caught in the wheels, then they're filthy... it's just really annoying. I live in England, so it is at least chilly a lot.
