Yes, I read something about the harness slots &amp; checking to see if the shoulders are above them &amp; if the ears are above the top of the seat then it's time for a booster but I don't know about the infant to convertible. That way we can easily see her in her mirror. I don't know anything about the seat belt coming from the ceiling thing... You can also go to the fire or police station for help if that is closer than the hospital. So, I checked my manual and it doesn't explain a single thing. If anything, it made me more confused because it showed me BOTH ways of putting the car seat in. Another monkey wrench, is that the center belt in the Rav 4 comes from the ceiling, which I've heard is unsafe to use. Well, the manual shows it as an option. </p> <p>Does anyone have a car like this that can offer advice? We do have a Children's hospital about 30 minutes away that does car seat checks, so I could check with them. I just don't even know where to begin looking at car seats since where I'll place it will depend on how much room I have. Husband's car is a big Grand Marquis, so he will have no problem fitting a car seat in there. I've read that "least protected" goes in the middle. If your older one is fwd facing at the time, I believe that would be considered less protected than a rear-facing infant seat.... So that should go in the middle (if possible). Pls also note that your older one can/should still be rear-facing in a convertible car seat for as long as possible... For some kids, this means well into their preschool years. AAP revised their guidelines on that a year or two ago. You may know that already, but just putting it out there for others who may not know. As an example, our convertible is behind the passenger seat, because it can not touch the back of the seat when installed and my husband is tall so he needs the seat further back.</p> <p>It's really not that complicated, so don't overthink it for two seats. Where it gets tricky is when you have to have three seats together in a row. Then the seat size and install can be a bit of a puzzle.</p> <p>A third row isn't always the answer, especially when you have to consider the location of the tether points. If you have a seat in the middle, it should be the least protected seat, which is the BLVD, not the infant bucket.</p> <p>Also, does your car have LATCH? DD is still in her Britax Chaperone infant seat but we have the Britax Boulevard 70 ready. I drive a 2011 Jeep Compass, so the back isn't huge. I am wondering if when we do have another baby, if I will be able to fit one in the middle &amp; one behind the drivers seat? Or will I need to put one on each side? Does anyone have experience with this? I was thinking it may be possible with a smaller infant seat but am not sure.<br /> thanks in advance :) </p>
