I'm planning to use the leftovers to make a chalkboard for LO's room. I'm going to get a remnant of plywood (they should have them at any lumber store) and some prefinished trim. I have a power saw at home, but you can usually get the people at the hardware store to cut the molding down to size for you if you can't do it yourself. Anyway, I'll lightly sand the plywood to make sure it's smooth, do two coats of chalkboard paint, and then glue the cut molding pieces around the edges for a finished look. The roughness was very offputting, and i would not recommend it. We used it in our wedding, others have used in their weddings, and just last Saturday used it for DD's 1st birthday. He used plywood and bought trim from Lowes/ HD. Then he painted it with chalkboard paint -quite a few coats! Then my friend made the art part with chalk pens; which btw does not erase! She designed it on the computer and printed in via Photoshop.
