@JennRimbey: I'm sorry you are going through this. Like @shantuck:, I went and had a blood panel done after recurring miscarriages and also had DOR. My progesterone was low and they found a problem with blood clotting too. I had a hysteroscopy as well to look at my uterus but that looked fine. I ended up being put on Progesterone and low dose aspirin and we were gearing up to IVF when I found out I was pregnant again. I'm 31 weeks and everything has been fine. For us, it was an easy fix but seeing an RE for a full work up definitely helped. Good luck to you!

This link was a good starting point for me: http://www.acfs2000.com/basic_services/repeated-pregnancy-loss-habitual-abortion.html

After my 2 losses, I had a RPL panel done (tests for blood clotting and autoimmune issues).

And what ultimately helped me was going on Lovenox just after ovulation, and continuing until 6w after birth. Here's some info about that:
http://www.healthline.com/health-blogs/fruit-womb/when-start-anticoagulation-therapy-recurrent-early-pregnancy-loss

I'd suggest making an appointment with an RE to discuss your losses and begin testing. However, I found an MFM doctor much more helpful (but you can't usually go straight to them).

Good luck, and wall me if you need any more info.

I would add that if you ask a doctor for the tests but they dismiss you because your losses were early, you have every right to request them anyway.

My doctor only ordered one of two panels because I'd "only" had two losses and insurance didn't always pay for both panels. But I wanted it anyway and let her know so (and insurance covered it, so it didn't matter).

Also, if you've been TTC for the last year, you're also dealing with secondary infertility and can request the tests under that diagnosis.

But no matter what, if you don't feel like the doctors are taking you as seriously as you want to be taken, either find another doctor or speak up and let them know what you'd like.

I would agree with what everyone said and am so sorry for your losses. Simple blood tests can rule out some things and they might even give you an "easy" fix, such as baby aspirin for clotting or progesterone supplements. I think that after 3 losses, they will see you for a repeat/recurrent loss panel, so I would definitely see what they will do to help you in the future.

I'm very sorry for your losses. Early losses are very upsetting in their own right.

I've had 5 early losses (all by week 5) as well as a loss at 18.5 weeks (though that was a TFMR). I had one loss before DS1 (who is totally healthy) then went on to have DS2 (also totally healthy). In our quest to have a third, we had 4 consecutive early losses. However, I was nursing during this time and that may have been the cause. I did have recurrent loss testing done (including testing for ovarian reserve - FSH/AMH, oestradil, progesterone, thyroid). Mine were normal with the exception of low AMH (.66 at age 35 then), but my OB didn't think that was a big deal. However, my OB referred me to a reproductive endochronologist, but then we got pregnant with our third son and stayed pregnant, so I never pursued the appointment. Unfortunately, that pregnancy also ended when we found out that our son had a debilitating illness and brain damage.

It seems like early losses are often caused by low progesterone. I think pushing for a repeat/recurrent loss blood panel is absolutely warranted and you should definitely ask for it.

Found this thread based on your other one. A few things my RE tested me for to rule out everything else was my progesterone as well as clotting issues. Those are two big things when it comes to recurrent miscarriage. Have you called your doctor to let him/her know about each of your miscarriages? I would think with as many as you've had, they'd want to at least figure out what's happening after you get pregnant and do some testing as soon as you get a positive HPT.

Again, so sorry for all of your losses. I hope you get some answers soon.

@JennRimbey: You may also want to inquire about a saline ultrasound if all of your blood results come back normal. This allows them to look at your uterus and make sure there is nothing abnormal (abnormally shaped uterus, fibroids, scar tissue, etc.). Hopefully this is just a matter of figuring out what is off and there will be a way to remedy it. :goodluck:

Thank you everyone. I will be asking doctor about the things that you all mentioned.
I'm wondering what it means that most women with early loss issue seem to have some inconsistency compared to me. I'm easily getting pregnant every single time we try and then losing before 16 dpo everytime. I wonder if this is hormonal at all, it seems mechanical or genetic(which would kinda be mechanical in a way)

I'm so sorry for your losses.

I've had 3, but only one was early. I have a history of low progesterone, so after the first loss I've been put on supplements as soon as I find out I'm pregnant (this last time, even before they tested to see if my P was low or not)

After having my hormones tested, I also came back with low estrogen so this last pregnancy, I was also on HCG shots. I've been able to have extensive testing through an approach called NaPro (fertilitcare.org has more info if you're interested)

At the very least, I would push for your OB to do a full recurrent loss blood panel to also rule out clotting issues. But with early losses, it can often be a hormonal issue.

I'm hope you're able to find some answers to help you heal.

I had consecutive losses before my current pregnancy (one at 6 weeks and another at 8). Mine were explainable because I went in for a basic hormonal blood panel and learned that I have a diminished ovarian reserve. As one RE described it, at 35 years old, I had the ovaries of a 42 year old so my risk of miscarriage jumped from 20% to over 40%. If I were you, I would look into getting some blood tests done to see if they can tell you anything about what is going on. Sometimes people have low progesterone issues that can be treated. Or if you have a condition like mine, it at least helps to understand why it is happening so you can come up with a plan. I ended up doing acupuncture and a special diet my acupuncturist put me on to help with egg quality while I was waiting to switch to insurance that covered various fertility treatments. For me, my doc said it was going to be a matter of perseverance and that I needed to wait to catch a good egg. I'm not sure if the acupuncture and dietary changes had a role as well but it was about 3 months after I started with my acupuncturist that I got what appears to be a sticky pregnancy (third trimester now). Best of luck and I'm so sorry for all your losses.

Hi everyone. I have had 4 early miscarriages in a year and tonight I think is the beginning of the end for number 5. Everytime I get symptoms about 6 days after ovulation and then positve hpt's around 10 days after ov. Then on day 12 I start spotting usually just a little mid morning and nothing until mid morning the next day. Somewhere between day 13 and 16 I begin to bleed heavily. With number 4 I actually saw the sac and baby. Does anyone have experience with this? I am 32 and already have a child (age 12). I'm so sad.

@septca: That's how I view it as well. I had one around...my 5th cycle trying. Got the faintest positive on a HPT a day or two before my period was due (D could see it, too) and then started my period a day later than expected. Slightly heavier than normal flow.

As opposed to what I call my miscarriage, when I had dark positives, made it a bit over a week after my period was due before I started bleeding heavily + passed a sac.

As far as I'm concerned they're both losses, but the latter hurt me a lot more than the former, because I had longer to get used to the idea?

This is not a technical definition, but my definition of a CP is when you get a :bfp: , but then get your period - either on time or a few days late. So it's a MC that happens before many people would even know they were pregnant.

Also, in my mind, a loss is a loss. So a CP is definitely a MC.

@jodyblair: Yes, I think since something was visible there, meaning your body had prepared for a pregnancy then it wasn't a chemical. It sounds like you may have even had more of a blighted ovum which is the next step that a a sac was forming but no baby was there.

@T.H.O.U.: So if something is visible on the ultrasound, then it's not a chemical pregnancy? I lost a pregnancy in June 2012 (I think i was about 5 weeks) and we did see the sac on an ultrasound. I always thought it was a chemical pregnancy since it was so early, but I guess it was an early miscarriage.

@Mrs.Someone: Not quite. Its not that you just haven't seen anything on the ultrasound but that nothing would be visible on an ultrasound. So really it would be any loss before 5 weeks:

"The baby and gestational sac will not develop enough to be visible on an ultrasound. The term "chemical" pregnancy can be confusing. In a chemical pregnancy, the sperm and egg do meet but the fertilized egg does not implant properly in the uterus, resulting in an early miscarriage.".

Definitely still a loss, but nothing was developed.
