@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: OMGosh that room - everything - is gorgeous!!! Can I just start over and move in there? Thanks for the idea! I should probably find a few short runners like that!

@shopaholic: Saw this set up with 8 chairs and it made me think of your table. I like the way the napkin adds color, but still shows off the China.

I would lose either the runner or placemats. Don't return them, but every couple weeks, switch it up and use one or the other.

I like the idea of just having 6 chairs out. It looks crowded. A napkin with a pop of color would look great too.

@photojane: Ooh! I like this idea! Thanks! I was planning to get some chargers anyway. I can look for some purple tones for some color! But admittedly, I love non-color colors (metallics, whites, greys). But I will be looking for some subtle colored accents.

I'd lose the place-mats & replace them with chargers slightly larger than the dinner plate. Do you have any colors in the living room/kitchen that you could bring in to the dining room with the chargers?

@spaniellove: Yes. I'm thinking I should just return the place-mats. I'm not returning the runner since I've owned that since it came out.

@looch: Thanks! That's a good point! Yes! I need to find some napkins and napkin rings I like for more pop!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: That does sound nice for just leaving it out on display. But we actually always need extra chairs for when we have people over! I guess we really need a bigger table (but I can't even fathom how we'd fit it!

I'd lose the runner and placemats since your table for 8 is close together. You could add a napkin atop the China.

Or lose two chairs...could you place elsewhere in the room? Then you could set the table for six and use the placemats or runner only.

I would do a tablecloth instead of the placemats and runner. I would also probably keep the centerpiece very simple if you are laying out all of the place settings, so either candlesticks or just the bowl with some colored balls in there.

I personally like the look of dark wood against the snowy china, but I realize that most people aren't fans of that.

I think you could lose the runner..or the placemats. I like both but it's too much together. I'd suggest a colored cloth napkin folded in some fancy way and maybe a fake flower arrangement in the middle, or some color glass balls in that dish you have out? I looveee your china and flatware, it just needs some color!

I've had this dilemma with my table - the runner and placemats have to overlap a little to fit, and it looks best when they complement each other but don't match. Just for every day your table probably looks great with just the runner and what you have on it!

This post (http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/how-do-you-keep-your-dining-table#post-952873) made me think about keeping my dining table set nicely. Since our front door opens right into the formal living room and dining room (open concept). I went out and bought matching place-mats (on sale now) for our table runner. Usually, I just keep a table runner and some candles or decorative bowl out. Our table seats 8. It seems like it's too small for place-mats and runner?

I'd love suggestions and/or pictures from your dining table set-up! I'll probably be up all night looking on Pinterest! What would you do? Return the place-mats? Buy smaller mix/match place-mats? Ideas welcomed!

P.S. That post also made me finally bust out our wedding china (and it's been almost 5 years!)

We actually live in China. We moved here last year when LO was 10 months. She started her vaccines in Tokyo following the US guidelines and just continued on schedule here. We are in Beijing so no extra vaccines were required though since its a major city and not rural. Our ped did mention that if LO was susceptible to mosquito bites, we should think about getting her the Japanese encephalitis vaccine.

@lolabee: We didn't do any special vaccines for the kids... other than their normal vaccine schedule. Bee and I were both up to date on our vaccines, otherwise we probably would've gotten some booster shots.

Bees! Is there anyone that has traveled with their LO's to the Philippines and/or China? We may have the opportunity to go on a trip when our LO is 7 months old. (insert CRAZY excitement!!) The problem is he obviously won't be fully vaccinated (we are also on an alternate schedule, not sure if that matters). What protocols did you follow? What did you doctor/ped recommend?

Are there anything that China doesn't make????

We are now using the EasyLunchboxes (http://www.amazon.com/EasyLunchboxes-3-compartment-Containers-BPA-Free-Easy-Open/dp/B004UIRUJ2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1362424017&sr=8-1&keywords=EasyLunchboxes) for packing LO's lunch at daycare. While I love the bento style with so many compartments, it is so simple, easy, convenient, BPA free, microwave safe and dish washer safe and all, it is made in China.

And when I find something that is not made in China, it didn't say it is BPA...etc. free.

I am not trying to be difficult but when it comes to things that touches food, I am really trying to use things that are NOT made in China. However there seems to be no good options out there! I know there was this laptop lunchbox (http://www.reuseit.com/store/laptop-lunch-bento-p-3997.html?slave_id=3990&gclid=CIvOnqnh47UCFQODnQodrHsAZw) that is made in USA, but I do not like the design at all. I don't like how there are so many components it is just a nightmare to wash every day.

LO's daycare doesn't accept glass containers, so that option is also out of the door...

Are there any good bento boxes out there that are NOT made in China, and are BPA, PVC, and phthalates free, and microwaveable and dishwasher-safe at the same time, that you'd recommend?

ETA: Just in case you think I am being offensive... I am Chinese myself. haha. Yes. I don't trust my own kind especially when we read 100 times more horrible news than just China-imported poisonous pet food a few years ago.

@Leialou: I know! Baby-proofing is hard! We've slowly tried to move some things with our nephews and my BFF's baby having gotten into things and broken things. At least slipcovers are washable! :)

Also, I realized you must not have earthquakes where you live! I'd be scared of standing the plates up. One little earthquake and they'd all be broken?!?!

Some terrible reflections on the glass (still wrapping presents!) but here's our china cabinet. I'm wondering if most people just stack dishes and plates inside or what? I have one plate on a stand and some bowls stacked b/c my ILs threw away the boxes while they were stored at their house.
