Bummer! I'd wipe them with Clorox wipes.

This happened to me this year with our fake tree box. I had my husband take it outside spray it with dilute bleach solution and then hose it off. The poo was old and dried out so the risk of communicable disease by contact was low to begin with, but for airborne disease like lepto/hanta I took the bleach precaution even though they're not common in my area.

I definitely would not throw them away! Wash 'em up, put them on the tree and throw some dryer sheets in whatever box you store them in.

Unless they're fabric, I'm pretty sure you can wash them with dish soap. Just put them in a new box that closes tightly afterward... I'd toss fabric ornaments and garlands though.

I'd just wash them and keep them personally. Put them high up on the tree so no little hands get on them. I don't think it's a big dea at all. I would be way more concerned about ensuring there were no mice Getting in to our home!

Ugh. I'm sorry, that sucks! I've had this happen before too to a bunch of glass balls. I think we sprayed them with Lysol and through away the box. But I grew up in the country and mouse poop was a frequent occurance so I've kinda become immune to the extreme gross out.

DH and I decided to put up our tree today. We set up the tree and I started to take out ornaments from the box they were kept in. As I was looking around, I noticed mouse droppings at the bottom of the box. :crying: :bummed: I want to throw everything away, but my dd "first, second christmas" ornaments are in the box. Is there anyway I can save them? My dh shrugged it off and made it seem like it's not a big deal.

Has this happened to you? What should I do? What would you do?
