@swedishfish: thank you, that's really reassuring!
@TheSwissWifeStyle: my RE said just until the placenta is fully formed and functional...good luck on your next BFP xx
@imbali: thank you, and not at all! I've always felt like a fraud calling what I'm going through infertility, as I don't have the extra heartache of struggling to conceive, just keeping a pregnancy going - but at the end of the day I'm two years in with no baby so IF it is. I'm sorry about your loss xx
@Adira: thank you so much! I had a similar experience on Cortate, so I'll be prepared :)
@T.H.O.U.: thank you! It's great to hear someone with a similar issue has managed to carry to term. I really hope this course of treatment does the trick!
@Mrs.Someone: thank you! It will be well worth the suckfest if it works! I'm so glad you're almost there :)

@swedishfish: sub-Q.

The heparin is actually easier than Lovenox since it uses a much smaller needle. Downsides are that I have to fill the syringe myself, and its twice a day. But it doesn't hurt as much, and bruises less. I switched at 36w to prepare for labor.

I have a similar story to yours, at least 2 miscarriages, then found out I have a few autoimmune issues that caused them. My doctor put me on Lovenox (same as heparin, but once a day) starting about a week after ovulation. It did the trick right away, and I'm now 37w along :) I've also been on baby aspirin, and was on progesterone for the first trimester.

I really believe it was the Lovenox that did it for me, I hope it is your answer too! As much as the injections suck, its worth it when you get far enough in a pregnancy to realize that its what did the trick. Good luck!

@BluebirdLove: I'm sorry you're going through this and have had so many losses.

I had two back to back (after the birth of my daughter, so also secondary nightmare). We did the RPL testing and found something similar. I had a positive ANA and specifically a high anti-RNP. From what we vaguely know, the anti-RNP can be a Connective Tissue Disorder.

Anyways, for this pregnancy we did a regimen of progesterone (even though I was ok on levels I think like 18 to 20) and baby aspirin. The other thing we added was extra Folic acid. Anyways, it seemed to help because we are due next month.

The only issue I had was when I was around 7 weeks and had a bleed (found it was due to a SCH) and the baby aspirin made it worse.

@BluebirdLove: I can't speak to most of these, but I've had to be on prednisone due to low platelets. The biggest side effect I experienced on it was that it gives you false hunger pains, so you feel like you're hungry ALL THE TIME. Good luck to you! Wishing you a swift BFP followed by a very healthy pregnancy! <3

I hope you wont think this insensitive or not my place to comment as I'm not an IFer, but I lost a baby (20weeks) and they weren't sure the reason why. They put me on Clexane and baby aspirin - no side effects from those, just the clex injections hurt a little. Good luck with your meds and I'll be holding thumbs for a healthy pregnancy for you :goodluck: :goodluck: :goodluck:

@BluebirdLove: Just wanted to send you some hugs! I haven't been on any of those, but I will also be on heparin injections upon my next bfp. I don't know what to expect with them either! Will you be on heparin for the whole pregnancy, or just first trimester?

@BluebirdLove: I've been on everything you listed except for Heparin. I went through IVF for my first LO and a FET cycle for this LO who is in utero and everything listed is part of the IVF protocol (except Heparin).

I wasn't on prednisone long term so I can't really speak to its side effects. I didn't really have side effects from my estrogen medications or baby aspirin. For part of this pregnancy I was on progesterone suppositories and injections. My morning sickness actually got worse after stopping the progesterone.

Don't be scared of any potential side effects. Just focus on having the medications work to help your body support a healthy pregnancy! Good luck! :goodluck:

Hello everyone,

I've been on an enforced break from TTC for the past 8 months so I'm not a familiar face I'm afraid, but I'm hoping ladies in the same boat as me will be able to share their experiences on these pregnancy support medications...

Quick background - I'm currently in secondary infertility purgatory. After 4 back to back miscarriages in the first trimester I've been seeing a highly specialised RE. After exhaustive testing it has been found that I have a very high count of anti-nuclear antibodies which have been linked to recurrent miscarriage, and my progesterone levels drop steeply towards the end of my luteal phase. As such we will be trying next month, and if we get a BFP I'll be on the following medication for most of the first trimester.

Note: Some of these brand names may be different as I'm in Australia, but I'll include their general purpose so hopefully you'll understand what I mean :)

Prednisolone (aka prednisone). A cortico-steroid to suppress my immune system and hopefully stop the ANAs from attacking the pregnancy.

Progesterone (suppositories). Twice daily - I was on these during my last pregnancy so I sort of know what to expect (tears!) but I'm not sure if it's different with other medications.

Clexane (aka heparin) injections to thin my blood.

Baby aspirin - again to thin my blood (not entirely sure why I'm on both).

Progynova - an estrogen based medication. From memory I would be taking these from post-O.

To be honest I'm a bit scared of all this. I've taken a peek at the side-effects online and they're all pretty serious drugs. I'm prepared for a rough ride, but how rough I don't know. Any success stories would be appreciated too, as well as cautionary tales.

Thank you for your help!
