Interesting. I'm having this done this cycle with the new RE. Starting the clomid pills today. He does have a hypothesis that my IF (and failed IUIs) are due to possible low egg supply and mild PCOS. I've always taken femera (at my old clinic), so this will be the first time taking clomid.

@spaniellove: Awww, interesting, I did not know that. I have just saw several posters mention it so I thought it was common.

@LindsayInNY: I still had AF when I had my CD 3 testing done. For the CD 21, they would change it based on your Ovulation date.

@LindsayInNY: Yup, it's to check your post-O progesterone levels. And it's called CD21 but any decent doctor should know to wait until 7 days after you O! If not, insist on it!

@spaniellove: Yeah. Like CD21, isn't that to check post-O levels? So if that's typically when I O, it wouldn't help, no? I'm not expecting any of it yet, just curious!

@LindsayInNY: Are you asking if still having AF on CD affects any of the testing? I think it's pretty normal to have AF on CD2-3 and they're very used to working around everything. Some clinics are considerate and stock their bathrooms with pads! Also I wouldn't go to an RE expecting a Clomid Challenge test b/c it's not usually done.

This is interesting... What if you have shorter or longer cycles? Does it still have the same effect? For example, on CD 3, AF is still in town.

Not every RE does it or needs the information from it, as your other tests can probably tell them what they need to know. It's your CD3 numbers that are more important in terms of diagnostics!

@littlek: Your doctor would have you take Clomid on cycle days 5-9 after testing your Day 3 FSH level. They would then test your FSH again on Day 10. If your FSH is close to the same on Day 10 as it was on Day 3, chances are that your egg supply is good. However, if it's elevated on Day 10, you most likely have diminished ovarian reserve.

My obgyn did one but my re never suggested. In my case I was given 50mg if Clomid and had blood draws on days 3, 14, & 21. They read those to see how the Clomid works for you. I don't know the technical stuff, but it let's them know if it's worth it to keep trying Clomid

I have seen several people mention the "Clomid Challenge Test". What is it? I'm curious because my guess is that when I visit with the RE he will suggest it.
