I used to wear mine for 3-4 months nonstop. It was pretty gross. I was 16-17 and didn't care.

I got LASIK as a college graduation present to myself and I love love love the results!

I had LASIK so no contacts anymore, but when I wore them I rarely slept in them longer than a nap-- it was SO uncomfortable and I hated that peeling them off my dry eye feeling. I had the overnight kind for a while, until I went to another eye doctor who told me they weren't good for my eyes and could be damaging the cornea to the point that I wouldn't be able to get LASIK. The discomfort of wearing regular ones to sleep was so much worse than the annoyance of going to the bathroom and taking them out that I rarely skipped it. I had glasses pretty much only for night and morning while the contacts were out. My vision was also really bad.

@REESE: I talked to my doctor about it and she said I can't get traditional lasik. I would need something (like a glass contact) implanted into my eye since my vision and astigmatism is so bad.. :(

Okay, I'll try to take them out more.. I just wish I could see!

Don't do it! I have corneal scarring from wearing my contacts too much and not changing them often enough. Have been in glasses for 3 yrs now because of it.

I used to but I stopped when my Dr said I was damaging my eyes. It's really only about a minute to take them out and clean so I force myself to not be lazy. I also am so blind but I just put my glasses next to me on a shelf every night so I can put them on right away.

I fall asleep with them on sometimes, and a few times, when I tried to take them out, I scratched my cornea. I took it out carefully, but I think it was just so glued to my eye that it injured my eye! I was light sensitive and had a watery eye for 2 days. Not something I recommend...

I never sleep in them! I value my vision and wouldn't want to put it at risk. I have a pair of glasses to wear before bed and early in the morning since my eyes are really bad.

@LaineysMom: I did for YEARS (not every single night) but for the most part I did. I did it for the same reason as you - I was basically blind without them. I then got LASIK - best decision ever.. I would highly recommend it.

I wear hard contacts so I always take them out before going to bed. I do ocassionally nap with them in, but if I anticipate sleeping more than just a couple hours, they have to come out. They hurt my eyes and I hate struggling to get them out.

Yes. I try not to, but sometimes I am just too tired to make myself take them out after I get LO down (I just hop in bed and try to sleep for as long as she will let me!).

I slept with them once overnight and hated the feeling of contacts being glued to my eyeball. I try my best to remember but my vision isn't that bad and I often forget that I'm wearing contacts.

Don't do it! You can get corneal ulcers that can cause you to need a corneal transplant if they are bad enough. I'm an ophthalmologist and we even say not to sleep in the ones that are "made" for sleeping in. Putting your contacts in solution disinfects them and allows your corneas time to heal from the trauma of wearing contacts. An occasional night of forgetting isn't likely to cause major issues, but I wouldn't make a habit of it. That's my PSA for the day :)

I'm legally blind without my contacts and I absolutely hate waking up and not being able to see anything, so sometimes I just decide to sleep with them in..

Do you take your contacts out every night??
