@nutmeg36: Yes, I have a Britax Marathon Clicktight in my car. I don't have center latch like my husband's truck does, so I wanted something that would be easy to install in the center with a seatbelt. The Clicktight is easier to install than the Contender, but I miss having the cup holder when we're in my car.

We have a contender that mostly stays in the baby sitters car. I like it! It's easy install and light. It's not overly padded and hot (we live in FL so this is important for us). I am not sure about fitting in smaller cars as we have only had it in larger vans/SUV.

We have one in my car. It's nothing fancy and I wish it had two cup holders like the extend-2-fit but I really can't complain. It fit fine in my Honda civic.

We have a Contender in my husband's Honda Ridgeline truck. We have it in the center position, and it fits well. It's not hard to install or anything, but it does require a good bit of effort and pulling the strap in just the right direction to get the latch installation tight. (I think there are videos of this online.) Overall we've been happy with it.

We were very generously gifted a Graco Contender carseat for Christmas for my DD. Does anyone have any experience with the car seat (good, bad, ugly)? Reviews online are favorable, but I don't know anyone with the seat IRL.

Additionally, I drive a Mazda3, which has a very narrow backseat. Getting a new car is not a feasible option at this point. Does anyone happen to know if this carseat will fit (rear-facing) comfortably? We put her infant seat in the middle, but ideally I'd love to put her behind me so it's not so hard getting her in and out (I'm about 85% sure this won't be possible until she's forward facing, which is years away).

ETA: Asking the question because we need to purchase a 2nd seat for my husband's car (she rides in both cars pretty frequently). If the Contender won't fit in my car, it will certainly in his (Pontiac Vibe), so we can do something different for mine.

We have radian 120s that we got for about $200 each, and I really love them. Extended rearfacing and use as a highback booster down the line sold me. We've had ours for nearly a year and I have no complaints. Very easy to install and adjust in our van and truck and the kids are comfy. The straps are the ratcheting type, which is different than our bucket seats, and I did need the angle adjuster foam pads to get the best install, just fyi.

We have this one: http://www.diapers.com/p/recaro-performance-ride-convertible-car-seat-sapphire-826011?site=CA&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc_D&utm_term=RC-071&utm_campaign=GooglePLA&CAWELAID=1926790236&utm_content=pla&ca_sku=RC-071&ca_gpa=pla&ca_kw=%7Bkeyword%7D

and I LOVE IT. I was hesitant. I had my eye on the diono radian and wanted it very badly, but when this one went on sale and I had a $20 off coupon, the price couldn't be beat. And I'm glad we chose this one. You mentioned the straps - and they could not be easily to adjust and buckle! We had a different convertible seat prior to this and the straps drove my bonkers. It was impossible to loosen them. These are so easy. I also love how cushy the seat is - that's funny to say, but it seems so comfortable. It is really easy to install, we use the latch system.

As for the size, you can RF for up to 40 lbs, and 22.5" seated height. J is 24 months, about 27 lbs and 34"ish inches - and he's nowhere NEAR the height limit. So I think he'll fit RF for a long time.

The only complaint I have at all is that it's a little difficult getting him in/out because we have a small car. But it's really not even that big of a deal. If we had an SUV it wouldn't matter at all.

We have the recaro proride and love love love it. It's really good for tall LOs (mine outgrew bucket seat at 5mo) and good for the climate. It also offers side impact protection and it's not too expensive.

@Bookish: Ok we haven't actually used it yet, but we have the Maxi Cosi Pria and it looks so comfy!! One of the main reasons we got it is because a lot of the reviews I read said the fabric is great for warm weather climates. It's really breathable. I've heard that Britax seats aren't great for warm weather, and my LO runs warm as it is.

Britax is known for being easy to install and easy to adjust the straps, but, if you're going for extended rear facing, you might not get as far as you planned.

My son was rearfacing in a Britax Boulevard until he was 32 months old, then we had to switch him forward as he was just too tall for it rearfacing.

So consider that as well.

The Graco recall yesterday was the last straw for me with my Graco MySize 70. It is hard to adjust, hard to tighten, and yep, hard to get that little buckle un-buckled!

We will soon need a second convertible seat, and there's no way I'm buying another of the MySize70.

Can you all recommend a seat for a biiig LO? She was 19lbs and 28.5in at 6 months (about to outgrow bucket seat by height, which is why I need another convertible), so I need something that's got pretty extensive height limits.

Any ideas? We'll be putting the Graco in DH's car, since she's only in there sporadically, and I'd like to spend about 200-250$ max, if possible.

*ETA: It's the MySize, not the MyRide. Oops

We just got ours after convincing my mom to buy one for us while Amazon was running a deal in them. I'm loving it bc my mom is so tall but I'm wondering about the sleeping issue of it being more upright than her combi. Did your LOs get used to it or did you finagle it to recline more?

@littlek: Yes bc it takes up less space than our maxi cosi mico (on the base) and really doesnt stick out (as far as the actual seat) any more than the mico...And the mico fits in mini coopers!

We put the foonf in my husband's extended cab Z71, so it's not even a true doublecab/4door/normal back seat, and it fits nicely! It's sooooo nice! I really love it! You will not be disappointed! It's also awesome to see the steel bars in the back and know that if we're in an accident, those bars will take the force of the impact, not my LO's body!

@allison: @ChelseaRose: You GUYS! We installed it today and it's awesome! I'm so impressed with how nice it is! I totallywish I could have one for me!!! She seemed so much happier in it than her Maxi Cosi! And it doesnt hang off the seat at all and is pretty compact as far as how much space it takes! It looks big but somehow fits really nicely in a tight space...I can see how 3 would fit EASILY in most back seats. Looooove it!!!
