@LAZB: Sorry if this is already answered, but what kind of things would you want to do? We go to Tahoe once a year or so and, while we love it, it might get a little boring after 3 days unless you are skiing etc. You mentioned Carmel...you might like the Cambria and Morro Bay area. We were able to get a king suite with a fireplace and livingroom for $180 a night in Cambria.

It's about 80 miles west of Portland OR.

I love Cannon Beach.

Really anything along Rt 101 (Pacific Coastal Highway).

ETA: You mentioned lakes... Crater Lake, OR is beautiful. It's more southern OR, though. So maybe you could visit it if you go to northern CA. https://www.nps.gov/crla/index.htm

@LAZB: we live close to Tahoe and go there a lot. We go to south shore, but I actually prefer north shore; I think it's less crowded/more relaxed. Both are gorgeous though, so there's not a wrong choice

As far as non-strenuous things to do, both Heavenly (south shore) and Squaw have gondolas you can take to the top of the mountain for incredible views (I think there's a deal right now on Travelzoo for the one at Squaw). You could also take a dinner cruise on one of the the paddle wheel boats (the Tahoe Queen or MS Dixie).

Let me know if you have any specific questions...Tahoe in the summer is the best!

We did Portland during my last pregnancy (I think I was about 30 weeks) and while I loved all the good food, we got bored with the city pretty quickly. We ended up renting a car for a few days and doing drives out to the coast and along the Columbia River Highway. It was nice but I couldn't really hike or anything at that point so we probably didn't get as much out of the trip as we could have. Not sure I'd recommend for a babymoon. We only went because DH had a conference to attend there, so I tagged along for a few days and took advantage of the free hotel room.

Ok, update:
Looks like we are aiming to go in 2 weeks, so I have to decide quickly! DH doesn't want to do East Coast because we went to Boston and CT for a few days in May. We are now mostly considering Portland, Seattle, Vancouver (I know I said US, but Canada works too), and maybe Lake Tahoe. As someone who can't drink (but he will want to some) and can't do too many outdoorsy activities, which of these options do you think is best? Or is there another place that might be better? We had decided on Carmel or Monterey, CA, but everything is booked up or crazy expensive.

We loved Mammoth as a great break from the heat a few summers back, even though it's in the Southern Sierras. Also Jackson, WY -- very cute mountain town and close to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. Bozeman, MT is also a super cute town and close-ish to Yellowstone. And, Aspen is tres chic and nice. All of these have airports close by!

I live in Colorado... You'd definitely have to go to the mountains to get away from the heat! It is in the 90's along the Front Range (Denver, Boulder). But there are lots of great mountain towns and they are much cooler. 70-80 degree high during the day. Estes Park and Steamboat Springs are our favorites. We went to Steamboat as a "getaway from it all" before our wedding and had an amazing time!

Swimming, boating (kayaks, canoes, motor boats...), hiking, little cute towns, a little city with lots of foodie stuff (if you are near Portland), harbor tour, islands, light houses, free beaches.

If I was taking a vacation there pregnant I'd stay near Portland and spend time on the beach, go to some restaurants, take a tour of the harbour, and sleep! It's a beautiful place to just relax and enjoy the scenery.

I love Maine - Bar Harbor is where we often go for a long weekend. There's really nice restaurants, you can walk on a giant sandbar during low tide to an island, I love sitting on the hill downtown and watching the fishing boats. Also Acadia National Park is gorgeous. The last time I was there though I was 30 weeks pregnant so no hiking but the drive was pretty all the same haha. We went whale watching once and that was really fun.

If we are able to splurge we love to stay at the Harborside hotel...it has an awesome resort feel and I love to hang by the pool area. It's within walking distance to all of the restaurants, shopping, etc. If we are on a budget we Airbnb a cottage or stay farther out towards Bangor.
