We have a soft Corrolle doll. She's washable, which I love, but my girl is more interested in another doll, with a soft body and plastic head/hands/feet. I'm not sure why.

The Corolle doll goes out with us, because I like it better, but given a choice, my girl would pick the other doll. Sigh.

Just goes to show, you can't force your preferences on your kids!

DD (17 months) was gifted an American Girl brand baby doll and loves it! You're able to customize hair and eye color and its really well made. I know they're probably expensive but they look really nice and hold up to a lot of beating at our house!

Thanks, everyone!

I think I'm going to make it a special outing and just take LO to the store so she can choose her new baby :)

And maybe if she prefers the Corolle type, I'll get a soft Baby Stella type in the opposite gender just for kicks :P

My 15 month old has a Corolle doll. Is soft bodied with a hard face, hands, and feet. She likes it a lot! She has a soft doll too that she is not interested in at all.

I agree - let her go to the store and pick one out! We were just gifted LO's first baby doll. It's a Disney Princess babydoll. The head, arms, and legs are hard plastic, but the body is soft. It's kind of crazy how realistic it seems!

No idea what's best, but I ended up getting the Corolle Calin with the pink pjs because of the reviews. Like you, I'm really not into real looking dolls, but DD seemed to really like the one at the doc's office. She likes hugging her stuffed animals, so I figured a soft bodied doll would work best.

If I was expecting a boy, I'd definitely look into the boy dolls. But you can always just change the clothes and make it more boyish - at least with the soft bodied dolls, it really doesn't matter.

Let us know what you end up getting. I've never really looked into baby dolls until recently, and I had to limit my search because of shipping, so I don't really know what else is out there.

We took DD to the toy store and let her pick out her baby doll. Well, we gave her a few choices to choose from ;)

We were Team Green for #2, so we didn't know the sex... I didn't mind if she chose boy or girl, but I did want her to choose one that looked like us as much as possible (dark hair, medium skin color, etc.).

Perhaps you could let her see what's in the stores and see what she'll like?

I'm due with my second soon and am thinking of getting my LO (16 months) a baby doll. She's actually not that into stuffed animals but I figured with a doll we can try to teach her more about "baby" and what it means.

I've been considering a Corolle doll or the Baby Stella.

Are there pros/cons to having a more realistic/vinyl type vs soft fabric? The Corolle looking type dolls kind of freak me out but if kids like them more, then I'll suck it up and get it :P

Also, do you guys think since she'll have a baby bro she should get a boy doll or it doesn't really matter?

Thanks
