My mom is close with one of her cousins who has been a fairly active part of my life. I always just called her by her first name, no title necessary. Maybe every once in a while it was "Cousin Lynn."

I voted for aunt since that's what I would do, but my family doesn't go by the normal rules. In your case, since you two are close, I think it would be fine.

We call my grandparents' cousins and siblings Lolo/Lola (grandfather/grandmother). Anyone in my parent's generation, no matter how far removed, are still Auntie/Uncle to us. If they're older than us but not related, we usually call them Ate/Kuya (older sister/brother). That's how I was taught (and I know it's totally wrong), and all the "removed" stuff still confuses me.

I voted for "aunt" since you and LO's mom are like sisters (like @yoursilverlining said). Plus, I usually call my parents' peers "aunt" or "uncle" no matter what the real relationship is.

I call some of my parent's cousins "aunt" or "uncle". But only if they are close.

We just call all our "elders" aunts and uncles in English, but by their respective titles in Chinese. It starts getting foggy as there are more generations and it takes the old school elders to let us know what the correct title is.

I voted for Aunt since you guys have a sisterly relationship. Our family isn’t big on rules of only calling people what they technically are though. I say make your own family, and have the LO call you whatever you and your cousin like!

I would call you cousin, but you can do whatever you want! My husband has an aunt and uncle that are just family friends, but they're very close.

My very close cousin Natalie just had her baby yesterday! I'm so excited for her. We grew up practically like Sisters going to the same school and living around the corner from each other. I know that her baby would be my 1st cousin once removed, but that seems a little long for a title. Natalie and I have a lot of Aunts, that will now be Great Aunts to the baby. We sometimes call each other Cousin Natalie or Cousin Stephie when referring to each other.

Would it make more sense for Baby to call me Aunt Stephie, Cousin Stephie, or something else one thought was a combo like Cousaunt - (Pronouced Cous-int in a Jersey Accent)
