I can't believe your LO is almost 1 already!!!
And I would go buy stickers. Much easier than paint! (less toxic too) :)

I like Mrs. Bee's sticker idea. I feel like they sell dot stickers at office supply stores.

I would be careful with painting on anything you're using to serve food. Most paints aren't food safe.

Maybe you could use the platters to hold other types of containers..lime green platters with polka dotted cupcake liners with snacks inside. Or, line the platters with tissue paper. Or do a fun table cloth and keep the platters solid colored. Or add some brightly colored vases with polka dots. Or even find some great ribbon to spruce up the table.

you could use a hole punch and put on round white stickers instead. you can buy full size sticker paper at any office supply store.

@Thehistoryofus: I would just ask someone at your local craft store. I don't know what paint would work best but I know that there is one. They make foam circle brushes so it would be really easy to do once you get the right paint.

@blushink: Thanks, any ideas for paint to use to paint on plastic? I know people paint on wine glasses and such so maybe something similar?!

I know you can make cupcake stands with plates and candlesticks. Even wall art with the paper plates.

Let me find a few links on pinterest.

So we are doing a polka dot theme for LO's first birthday. I got some great lime green platters and bowls at WalMart (ugh I normally hate shopping there but they did have what I needed) for $1. I now want to spruce these up a bit with some white polka dots. Any suggestions? They will be used to set cupcakes on, bowl for chips, etc. Is there a special paint to be used?
