@Kaohinani: Thank you! I’m 17 weeks now and baby is perfect. 😃 It hasn’t been a smooth road and I’m dealing with a few complications related to my body and whether or not I can carry to term, but it looks like this is going to be the one!

So many fingers crossed for your natural cycle and/or IVF!!

UPDATE -
My RE just "OKAYED" my DH and me to begin BD-ing on Thursday [for a natural cycle]. F'x that it was the endo preventing us from conceiving and it won't be an issue any more.

@CatchAFallingStar:  @poppygirl15:
Thank you so much for sharing, ladies! Your stories made me feel much better about my future prospects for another baby whether it comes naturally or with the aid of ART. The RE and I were aware of my cyst (* I had it for 5 mos and it was large) but the endo was a surprise. My RE stated I had a mild case of "silent endometriosis." I hope excising the endo and removing the cyst sets me in the right direction to regaining my fertility.
Thank you, again. 💜

Yup! Had a cyst removed (was actually too big to remove laparoscopically although they tried that first before making an incision at my bikini line) in college. Had both kids naturally.

Yep! I had cysts removed and stage 4 excision after a few years of unexplained infertility. RE had us take one test cycle after and I got pregnant with my first daughter that first cycle we tried! It was IUI and injectables, but still. First try!

Best of luck for a smooth delivery for your #3! And, Karenbeme, (Note - I have missed you bunches) wouldn't you be somewhere close to your mid-point? In any case, thank you.

My bestfriend has issues with cysts. She got pregnant with her first baby after she had a cyst removed and her endo removed with her oldest. The cycle after she got pregnant (she didn't have a lot of endo but the doctor wanted to be thorough.) She also just had her 3rd baby but before had to have a golf ball size cyst removed. That cycle nothing happened but the next she got pregnant with her baby. She just had her in May.

Sending prayers and positive vibes!!

@LAZB: Thank you! 💜 You know how much I appreciate honesty (whether positive or negative); however, at this time, I REALLY needed to read something uplifting. I (vaguely) had remembered some details you have shared [in the past, as well as, of recent] but I was completely unaware of what stage endo you had and that your cyst was also simultaneously coexistent. Reading this gives me a bit of hope. 🥰

Girl, yes! That’s what I was saying earlier. I had a cyst removed, along with stage 4 endometriosis, 6 years ago before I got pregnant the first time. And as you know, I’ve had 6 pregnancies so far! The three that I miscarried weren’t due to my uterus.
I have another friend that had the same procedure a year ago, I think her endo turned out to be stage 2 or 3, and she’s gotten pregnant 4 times since (sadly miscarried them all due to chromosomal defects). She also didn’t have endo, or at least any symptoms or issues until after her first two pregnancies.

It has been quite a while since I have written a post posing an inquiry in regards to fertility/infertility. Here goes:

Has anyone (you, a friend, family member, neighbor, acquaintance, etc) ever had a laparoscopic procedure for cyst removal (cystectomy) in an ovary and/or the removal of endometriosis (mine was EXTREMELY mild - think stage 1) in the uterus and then went on to successfully become pregnant?

For those of you bees who aren't super familiar with my fertility story, here's some background:

(1) I had been identified as having unexplained secondary infertility (* I have 2 children who were both conceived naturally and both were born via csection) until my RE realized that I ovulate early (think CD 8-12, on average) which could have led to immature ova in past cycles.

(2) We have been trying 3-1/2 years for another baby. DH has "champion sperm" (or atleast that is what he touts after each SA! 🤣) so, I know I am the "weak link."

(3) My AMH was spectacular for my age (39) until testing last month when it took a nose-dive. It fell by .43 ... by all standards, for my age, it is "decent" enough but is on the lower end of adequate.

(4) I have been on fertility meds (3 cycles Clomid and 2 cycles of Follistim with Ovidrel trigger). I easily over-stim (we are talking 20+ follicles) ... which could be a cause for the rapid decrease in AMH and the sudden onset of endo and cysts which are all hormonally induced.

(5) Next step is IVF; however, since I JUST had surgery [for the cyst and endo] 3 days ago (and DH will be gone for a month), the RE would like us to "simply try naturally" until I am approved by the embryology/IVF clinic.
...
THUS, why I posed the aforementioned query.

I really hope SOMEONE [anyone] has a story with a positive outcome which will afford me some hope.

Thank you in advance. 🙏💕

@Kaohinani: ok interesting, thanks! From googling it looked like vitex helps with lh and progesterone, not estrogen, so I thought it’d be ok. I’ve emailed my doc (although don’t expect to hear back soon since she’s on vacation), but I’ll hold off

Vitex with a cyst could, potentially, exacerbate the situation. As I am positive you already know, Vitex is an herb (composed of plant estrogens) which is used maintain hormonal balance, enhance circulation and improve the timing of the menstrual cycle. That stated, phytoestrogens added to an estrogen-produced cyst (one generated from synthetic fertility medicine) can cause the cyst to grow and rupture (painfully) which would set you back ANOTHER month. It may be better to allow the cyst to reabsorb into your body and try naturally this month.
You may conceive naturally ... If not, next month, you will be cyst free and ready for Clomid and BD-ing. I'm stating this with your health in mind. I do KNOW how very much you want a baby ... I'm right there with you on that so I can empathize and sympathize with you, but, with the possibility of a ruptured cyst, your cycle would be for naught and you could miss out on a second month as well. IMO, it just isn't worth it. No judgement though, you know your body and it is 100% your decision.

@dc yoga bee: no, I don’t have pcos, the cyst is from extra hormones from the clomid and trigger shot I think. I could go back in, but it doesn’t really matter because I just want to take clomid, and it would be too late at that point.

Do you have PCOS? My RE told me that vitex does more harm than good for PCOS and can really jack up your cycles so that would be my main concern. I had a cyst at the start of my cycle, but they did another ultrasound on cd 12 or 13 and it had dissolved. Is that an option?

I’m on cd5 and went for a scan today so I can start clomid. They found a 22 (mm?cm?) functional cyst and said to skip the clomid this cycle because it would only fuel the cyst since it is estrogen seeking. The nurse said I can still try naturally this month though (although I have a luteal phase defect and ovulate weakly on my own, so naturally is basically not trying). Anyway, I got pregnant one month using vitex, so I was wondering if I could try that this month since it does not increase estrogen production. My RE and her nurse are out of town, so I can’t talk to anyone right away, and I feel like time is of the essence. Is it worth taking it now? Or would it interfere with my cyst?

@leanne82: Glad to hear you have a good update. I was just going to share that I had a cyst that they found during my last pregnancy on my ovary. It was 8-10cm and they monitored it most of the pregnancy (yah extra ultrasounds!). They said that it could go away on its own, but it never shrank so I had them remove it during my c-section. I'm all clear this pregnancy.

Hopefully yours will continue to shrink and not come back! Good luck!

Update: 11/3: I went back in for a baseline ultrasound after AF arrived this weekend. My cyst is shrinking! I was convinced I'd be having it drained this week so this is great news. I'll be on the pill for one more month to allow it to dissolve and then I'll start stims in december. That's the plan anyway. And if I've learned anything about ivf its that plans can change at the drop of a hat. Anyway, just wanted to give a happy update. I'm so relieved.

I didn't have infertility issues at all so it may be different, but I had a 7cm cyst (Fallopian) when I got pregnant & it was not an issue throughout my pregnancy. I didn't even have extra ultrasounds. It was removed during my C section - I'm not sure why, it seemed like just because they could. They would have left it alone had I delivered vaginally.

First - welcome! I've had several cysts over the years. I've had some removed because they were very painful (about the same size as yours but they were twisting parts and causing pain). After about 8 months of monitoring and not going away, the surgically removed them.

I have another cyst now and we have to discontinue treatment as well until it goes down :( super bummed since historically for me, it takes a while. Good luck!

I had a cyst when I was 19 and only found out because it ruptured. It was super painful. I don't remember how big it was.

I had a very large one (22cm I think) that I had surgically removed. It was laparoscopic surgery and not too painful. I did loose an ovary and tube though.
