@kce56: I just looked at the soft ones I linked to above and they do have a seam, so if she’s bothered by that it might not be a good fit. But they are soft.

Yeah another vote as a former dancer and a current dance instructor: you are not supposed to wear underwear. That's why tights have a cotton gusset. Try the brands body wrappers or capezio.

NO UNDERWEAR UNDER DANCE TIGHTS!
A dancers underwear are her tights.

Can you be more specific about what is itchy and what is uncomfortable? Could there be a tag inside or perhaps the seams are itchy? Try a local dance store to feel the different fabrics, or go online and find a cotton leotard. The leotards you get that are for 'dress up' are not meant for actual dance class, and the quality of ones at a Walmart/target can be crappy.

As for tights, they do sell softer tights, but again - what is itchy/uncomfortable? Make sure the tights are pulled all the way up to her crotch. Think about when you are wearing nylons, and the crotch is falling down - very uncomfortable! Check for a tag on the tights too.

If she doesn't like wearing the tights under the leotards, try wearing them over it.
If the studio doesn't require tights, and you are just worried about her being cold, try leg warmers.

http://www.discountdance.com has a good selection if you don't have a local store.

https://www.discountdance.com/dancewear/style_387.html?pid=4900&Shop=Style&rfilter=Category%23Tights%3AAge%23Toddler%3A&SID=1308524368 < Soft tights

@kce56: I had gotten these for my daughter last year and she seems to like them. Her old ones dug into her belly and seemed uncomfortable but these have a very soft waistband.

Capezio Little Girls' Ultra Soft Self Knit Waistband Footed Tight, Ballet Pink, One Size (Toddler 2-6) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IXPSSCG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_1PzQBb9HPRJ3C

But to be fair, this girl loves wearing tights and dressing up, so she has never complained about a tutu leotard, ever.

ETA: her leotard was a cheap one my sister got on clearance at boscovs or something. But I got an inexpensive one on amazon that she seems to like too. But she’s not picky on leotards.

My 3 yo is in a ballet class and loves to dance - but she HATES wearing the leotard and tights. They're uncomfortable, itchy, doesn't like wearing them with underwear, etc. Any recs for leotards and tights that are softer and perhaps more comfortable? She's usually okay wearing just a leotard sans tights, but with the colder weather coming up, I'd love to find a leotard/tights combo she'd actually wear! TIA!

Has anyone played the Just Dance video game? We got it for our wii tonight and it is the best game I have ever played. For anyone who has not played it you hold the controller in one hand and copy the dancer on the screen and get scored on how well you dance. I was laughing so hard when my husband was playing. He was doing some 80's dance and tod me I wouldn't be able to pass his score since I am a young 80's child but I totally whooped his bum!

I encourage everyone to try out the game. I am still in shock that my shy, awkward husband got into it!
