This time around I am definitely into pre loved items and consignment sales. My husband wants to make the crib himself although that scares me a bit. 😜

I've heard a lot of the Facebook garage sale / or gear swap pages. Those are great I'm sure, if you can find one in your area.

I wish I would had waited to purchase a lot of gear and purchased it pre-loved instead. We have a great local FB buy sell trade and I've gotten SO much stuff on average 75% off. Toys, swings, strollers, clothes, bouncers. All in great shape.
I also lumped my registry together onto Amazon. People could purchase if they wanted but I got bonkers deals with my completion discount and amazons great prices and return policies.

I think the best way is to really narrow down your list for what you really need and how much you are willing to spend BEFORE shopping. If you start looking at nursery ideas and fall in love with a crib only to realize it's expensive and doesn't go on sale you are more likely to break the bank. I researched and found things like cribs often get scratched so going with something simple like the Graco was an easy budget saver.

We also shopped lots of consignment sales.

I am really early on in my 2nd pregnancy (only 4 weeks), my first is 6yo, and I already started looking into coupons and deals etc. We will be going from two incomes to one so that I can stay home with my little one(s). With my first I considered it a jinx to buy anything in the first trimester, but for some reason this time around, I feel it's a jinx not to.. Anyway, I'm hoping to bring to you a place where we can share coupons and deals, as well as all the miscellaneous things that go through our "hormonal" minds while pregnant and while trying to get pregnant! P.s. I love Shoppingg. :)

@danda: I'll have to keep an eye out for the BRU sale!

@mrsjyw: I KNEW I should have pulled the trigger for the Target sale, but I wasn't totally decided on the Keyfit yet. Sigh... hopefully they'll do another sale before September!

@MrsADS: We do need to try it out in person, I'll add that to the to-do list!

@Alivoo01: Good to hear on the Keyfit! We had a Graco the last time, but needed to get a new one for LO2. Also, good to hear you think it's fairly easy to use! We need an umbrella stroller for LO1 now as well, so we could get some use now (and practice!)

We have both, but the stroller didn't come out till later for us. Which was fine since I was on the market for a lightweight umbrella stroller for DS.

We used the KeyFit30 since birth and LOVE it! My BFF uses the Liteway as the snap and go now and really likes it. I enjoy using it as an umbrella stroller. Super easy fold up. I recommend.

Definitely go to the store and check it out. We ended up buying the Chicco Bravo travel system for our soon to be son (due in August) - mostly because it was SO EASY. I figure that if we want an umbrella stroller later, we will just get one.

I thought I wanted the Keyfit + Liteway combo. It was seriously so difficult to get the Liteway figured out with the Keyfit. We spent like 20 minutes fiddling with it (including reading the manual!) and it was just really difficult to get all the zippers and snaps just right and get it all situated with the carseat snapped in (and my husband has a Ph.D. in physics!).

So, for us ease of use won out. We reeeeally like the Bravo but it's pretty new and doesn't have a ton of reviews, and obviously we haven't actually used it yet so we'll see how we like it once the baby gets here, but it was THE most user friendly carseat/stroller combo we tried. Plus you can remove the seat part and just use it as a base to snap in the carseat when they are little.

Just bought a keyfit for lo2 at Target last week for 151.99 (sale + 5% red card). I bought the extra base and keyfit caddy at bbb w 20% coupons! We have the gluxe as our umbrella stroller and ds1 will likely be 100% anti stroller next spring/summer when we'll be using it often.

We loved out Keyfit 30 but Liteway plus wasn't an option back then (a friend has the Keyfit 30/Liteway Plus and seems happy with it though). When we bought our car seat Babies R Us was doing a spend $200 or $250 on Chicco (can't remember amount), get $50 gift card. I don't think Chicco is usually a coupon exclusion so definitely look out for coupons like 15-20% off and then use it. I'll also mention that a friend got a great deal on the Chicco Nextfit by stacking together Target sales on Nextfit plus "spend x amount on baby stuff get a discount" plus coupons.

Oh and I did not use either of those but looked at them and thought they looked really nice. I have a Mountain Buggy Nano travel stroller that you can use with any infant seat, it has a universal adapter. I got it after c was out of the infant seat but love it as an umbrella type stroller.

@CarrieLouWho: coupons you get in the mail do not work online. But if you are on their email list they occasionally send emails with a coupon code for online purchases (one item only). You might also be able to go to a bed bath and beyond store to order it in store for delivery.

After much research, I've landed on the Chicco Keyfit 30 car seat for LO2. I have also been eyeing the Chicco Liteway Plus stroller since you can use it as a snap-n-go and later as an umbrella stroller.
1. Anyone use this set-up? Any thoughts? Reviews seem good, but I trust the Bees for final thoughts
2. Does Chicco ever go on sale? If so, is there a certain time of year (like Britax) or is it sporadic?
I'd like to catch a deal since we need a base as well and full price this is adding up to $464.

just thought i'd share - i got an email for 50% off all hypnobabies MP3 tracks in case anyone is thinking about trying hypnobabies. these aren't the actual tracks they offer in the class or homestudy, but great supplements and will give you a really good idea of what hypnobabies is like. use coupon code hypnomp3 at checkout, and the offer is good for a month.
