I use Bubble and Bee. You can use it on little ones because it's totally natural stuff like rosemary and clove. It smells delicious! And they are local to me to boot!
http://www.bubbleandbee.com/servlet/the-54/organic-insect-repellant,-DEET/Detail

I should say that most people are resistant to using an insect repellant when I bring it over, but they always smell it and then want some :). Also it works really well!

We also use California Baby insect repellent, and it seems to work pretty well. My LO has never had a mosquito bite using the spray, but I have been bitten on a few occasions. I have to make sure that every inch of skin is covered or else the mosquitoes will find the spot that I missed.

we use natrapel and it helps a lot. california baby attracts bees and not just because i am one! i read that in the reviews and sure enough when we were in our backyard wearing california baby, the bees wouldn't leave us alone.

badger also makes a stick repellent that has very low ratings on the ewg site.

i've used this one from all terrain on a toddler with SUPER sensitive skin and had no issues with it, but looking at reviews it looks like some people had a reaction (that can be said with almost everything!). i think different formulas of natural repellants would work better in some areas than others depending on the type of bugs there. we're inland in MA and it worked ok, still a few bites in the evening, but not nearly as bad as using nothing. it also has a 2 score on the skin deep database, so nothing scary =)

Any other suggestions? I got some Skin So Soft from Avon and it helps a little bit but not a ton. It still seems like almost once a day she gets a bite even if its just from the time it takes to put her in the car!

There are usually at least a few plants bugs have a natural aversion to. For example, rosemary repels lice. Maybe there are some plants you could keep around to deter the skeeters?

Also, is there any standing water near your house?

I am looking for suggestions for bug spray/lotion for my little one. Mosquitoes are really bad around here and I attract them! I would love for something natural but also really need it to work. After being outside for like 5 minutes I have about 10 bites on my legs. They are bad here.
