I try not to think about it since the money is depressing, but I'm not willing to CD. My boy gets a bad rash with most diapers, so we use size 4 Pampers sensitive at 28 cents a diaper.

I'm a Pampers girls so they usually run me around $0.23 per diaper in size 3s. The best deal I've scored yet was from Target - 10% off Pampers promotion for 2 boxes plus $20 gift card plus 5% off RedCard users, which worked out to $22.98 a box or $0.13 a diaper. I was so pumped!!!! Haha things that get me pumped these days......

We are a pampers house so around $0.20-$0.25 (depending on size) is about right. But if you start looking at the cheap brands (generic or luvs) you can get them much cheaper. Alternatively, if you get the organic, special brands they are much more expensive.

The cheapest I can find diapers in Australia is about $.30 per diaper for size 1 equivalents. I miss American prices. :-(

I used a BRU coupon ($10 off) at Buy Buy Baby and got Size 1 Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive for $.019.. BBB will take anyones coupons and their Pampers boxes are the same price as BRU, but they have more diapers (20ish) so for me it's worth it.

I've gotten Swaddler 1s as cheap as 12c and up to 15c on Amazon Mom with a $3 coupon they sometimes have.

I use Costco prices as my absolute max. Those are around 16c for size 1 IIRC but they only carry Kirkland and Huggies.

I feel like I remember there was a post on this, but I couldn't find it in the search.

What is the average or what do YOU think is a good price or cost per diaper? This is for disposable diapers of course.

And also, do you think the size of the diaper affects your "good price" cost per diaper?

i.e. Today, with coupons I got Pampers Swaddlers for ~ $0.21/ea. Is that a good deal? (They also missed one of my coupons and I don't know how to go back and say so...)

@sarac: I love cloth diapering for that same reason--and because the gDiapers line up so simply in my purse/diaper bag. :)
I also like that if I need disposables, their disposables flush and get sewage treatment not landfill incarceration,

@Navy_Mommy: My best friend is like this. I got her into CDing and now she gets a new one all the time. Of course she can sell them when they've had all their kids. Or hey, if they're pokemon cards and you gotta collect them all that counts as a new hobby!

@pastemoo: I buy the chlorine free diapers, so it'd be more like $40 for sure. But even at $20 monthly, I'll probably break even by year two, just for this kid.

And you know what? I'd do it even if not for the money. I love cloth diapering. I hate the thought of all those diapers sitting in a landfill.

I'm way too lazy to do the math, so I don't know if we've broken even yet...we went through two packs of disposables the first two weeks, and he's been in AIO OS since then (he's about 12 weeks old). We spent about $250 on 18 diapers and then MIL gifted us another 6. I'm washing an almost entire load of them pretty much every day....little dude pees a lot and can't stand sitting in a wet diaper.

It also really depends on the brand. But yes... if you keep the cloth for a second kid you definitely break even!

@pastemoo: ha. love the cartoon. I feel like that! As my IRL friend says: cloth diapers are supposed to save money, except that they are like Pokemon cards, so once you get started, you want to collect them all.

As for my calculations, thanks for the offer, but I am too lazy to go back and figure out how much it all costed. I bought them at such different times, like Boxing Week sales and such. I know the newborns were a splurge, but I only used baby gift money for those, so does that even count? And then for the detergent, we switched to Rockin Green for ALL of our clothes, so hard to remove that price. We are on well-water, so water is free, but I did wonder about the electricity, but now after a few bills, it seems it hasn't really changed much...a bit more because I do the wash and have our lights on and heat/cool the house more during the day (when the electricity costs more). Baby 2 *should* be free, but I already have plans to buy more NB diapers when that happens, since I bought the bare-minimum number and had to wash them daily. Oh cloth!

PS. One night in and I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Wolleybottoms.
