@annem1990: I wasn't worried about it being long. I don't think that would hurt chances of conceiving - at least I really hope not. I just wanted to give my husband a good week to plan his trip and was going to pick the week I thought I'd be end of cycle/about to have my period. But if my cycle is 4-5 days longer times 2-3 months, it completely flip flops the weeks I'd be fertile. :bummed:

I think it would probably be really hard to predict. Are you worried about the cycle being longer? Or just that it's harder to predict your fertile window?

My cycles have always been really long (33-40 days). They typically don't jump drastically from one end to the other, but overtime go back and forth. I can't remember how long my cycle was when we were TTC (I want to say roughly 35days?) but we got pregnant on the first try. I hope long cycles aren't an issue for conceiving! We'd love to have more in the future.

@codeitall: Thanks for responding. I do temp (for now to avoid but also to see what my cycles are doing in prep for ttc) so I am curious to see when I ovulate next time. I did find this article which says that in general women who exercise and abstain from alcohol have longer cycles. And I saw somewhere else that both of those things reduce estrogen, so I wonder if that's what happened. Based on that I think it maybe likely to stay longer. Maybe not 33 days but maybe somewhere in between.

Hmm, that is interesting. I have heard that changes to your diet can have an impact, but never actually heard of someone experiencing a change when they were already regular. Have you done any temping so you can compare to your regular cycles? My guess is that you won't really know for sure until your next cycle is 33 days or not. If you've been temping, you can kind of cheat and see if things are delayed before your next period.

I recently started a new diet and fitness regimen and I think it did a number on my cycle. I had been having mostly 28/29 day cycles since I stopped breastfeeding in June, but this time it was 33. I mostly ate healthy and exercised occasionally before I started my new diet. The biggest change was I did a 10 day alcohol-free period (which happened to be during my follicular phase if that matters) and have generally been consuming less since. I'm tracking calories and aiming for a 250 deficit and have last 1.5 lbs since starting. So it isn't a huge change. I'm wondering if my cycle is likely to continue to be long while I'm dieting/exercising or if it'll go back to 28/29. I'm trying to figure this out because my husband wants to plan a ski trip with his friends this winter when we'll be starting to TTC and I want to estimate generally when my fertile windows will be so he can avoid those dates. And they vary widely depending on the length of the next few cycles. Oh, and if it matters - on my 28/29 day cycles I would O on CD 16 or 17 with a 12-13 day luteal phase. This cycle I Oed on CD 19 with a 14 day luteal phase - so both parts were longer.

So, do you think I should assume I'll go back to 28/29 or stay longer? Any similar experience?

Once again my daycare has called saying 3yo DS has diarrhea and we need to come get him. I'm 95% certain it is not true diarrhea because he had jalapeno chips yesterday...

But this is not the first time that we've been called to get him because of diarrhea which really was just loose stools. If I get called for DD for diarrhea, it is legit, with DS, who knows!

What food can I give him to stop him up a bit? He's allergic to milk, so that unfortunately rules out a lot of the typical advice I'm finding.

@lamariniere: I admittedly do not have cholesterol problems, but eating a higher fat, lower carb diet is supposed to increase your HDL levels while bringing down your LDL levels slightly. Of course, this is dependent on eating good sources of fat and eating healthfully even within the constraints of a low carb, high fat diet, but yeah, it hasn't been an issue for me. My husband is not on the same diet as me at the moment, but when he was eating more closely to my high-fat diet, his cholesterol went down and his doctor told him to stick with whatever he was doing because his numbers looked great.

I was released from physical therapy in January, and I've recently started back at the gym. I do simple weight workouts, bike, and yoga. Because of diastasis recti, my PT said it would be best if I avoided any direct core exercises (planks and anything resembling a crunch), for the rest of my life. Damn, it's harder than I thought. In classes, there's a surprising amount of direct core work, and I feel like I run out of modification ideas.

DH and I have been doing PiYo together since October and we LOVE it! It has really helped both of us lean out and improve our posture. We each supplement with some weights once or twice a week as well.

As for food, we just work on eating clean as much as possible but definitely believe in an 80/20 approach. I know for me if I tried to cut out whole groups of food completely I would never maintain it long term. And that's my goal - long term health.
