I really wanted to stick with my GD diet after I had the baby and a year later, its not really happening. Like @mrs. wagon said, I am using some of the principles I learned to eat better and I try to have eggs in the morning and eat cheese or yogurt for snacks and pairing carbs with protein. I need to keep reminding myself that it was a good diet and I wasn't starving the whole time, I did get to enjoy treats and I really did feel good while I was eating this way.

@mrs. wagon: I definitely thought fruit was a freebie before my GD diagnosis! ;-)

I wish!! However, I learned a lot of things through my GD diet (like protein in the morning will curb your snacky cravings throughout the day!) that I definitely still employ 5 months postpartum. I hope I'll continue this. One big change is that if I want ice cream, a lot of times I will have 0% fage greek yogurt with honey instead and that always does the trick for me. Also, if I'm starving and dinner is still a ways off, I have a yogurt and it always helps. I also don't consider fruit a freebie anymore, which I think is a good thing.

I also definitely look at carbs in a whole different way. I was never a big bread person, but I'm now more careful with my rice portions!

I think my ideal weight is 115 but I have been hovering around 123-125 in recent years.

I might be all talk...but I think I will try to stick to my GD diet (maybe not as extreme) even after my baby is born. I just don't exercise as much as I should anymore and I want to eat a healthier diet.
