I had been using the good 'ol Muchkin dishwasher basket which I put lids &amp; valves inside and straws in the straw holder outside. </p> <p>Then we got a new dishwasher this weekend and I am so pumped about the 3rd row. It has one of those flat drawers on the top which I have been putting spoons and sippy cup lids on. It is great not to have the basket take up a good chunk of space in the dishwasher - but now I don't know what to do with the straws. The silverware area looks like they'll shoot out.</p> <p>Anyone have experience putting the straws on the top rack? DH needed to run electrical and new plumbing for it bc we expanded and rearranged the kitchen layout. I spent a large part of my time as a kid with my grandparents and they had no dishwasher so I did dishes a lot! But it's been sitting at the appliance store since then because we haven't been ready for it yet.</p> <p>Monday it is finally getting delivered and installed!!! Woot!</p> <p>I'm so excited! We've dealed without it but man am I excited to get at least 1 - 1 1/2 hours of my day back! Between cleaning up from breakfast, lunch and dinners and 2 snacks I feel like all we ever do are dishes! It'll be soooo nice to just plop them in the d/w and hit wash!</p> <p>What appliances did you live without for a long time? </p>
