yup we did! i intially wanted to cloth diaper when i was pregnant but got talked out of it by people in real life. then when he was born at about 12 wweeks old i really wanted to give it ago and my hubby agreed. we started just last week at 4 months and we are loving it most of hte time.... we did it for cost reasons mostly but health (not that i think disposiables are bad but could have some bad effects like my lo was covered in gel beadings the one day from his diaper!) and cuteness are also were minor reasonings behind it.

My friend out here switched because I converted her! I let her borrow some gDiapers and now she some of EVERYTHING.

She initially did it to save money and got addicted because they are so CUTE.
She switched when her baby was 3.5 or 4 months old and has been going strong for over a month.

I think another reason to CD is the community here...

I know that there are probably more moms that started out wanting to cloth diaper and maybe gave up or ended up using disposables more? I wondered if anyone in the hive here had a change of heart and decided later to do cloth diapering after starting on disposables?

DH is on the disposables train. FIL will supply them all and we won't have to wash or buy them (at least mostly). But most of the HB members are all about CD and after reading Mrs. Superhero's post today, I feel more informed and educated about the whole thing. I think they look super cute (lol, of course the most important thing!) and wonder if I should just register for a couple CDs to have in case I want to try it out.
My main reason would be concerns that LO will get my severe skin sensitivities and eczema and maybe CDs are more gentle?

Did anyone have a change of heart and switch from disposables to CD after LO was born? If so, why?

My girlfriend has twins, and within 4 months I think she spent 400-500$ on disposables.

I have been looking into clothe too, and I found these sites to be helpful with cost breakdown. The only thing you would have to do is change it around a little for diaper service cost :) (and of course double all the numbers!)

http://www.diaperdecisions.com/pages/cost_of_cloth_diapers.php

and

http://www.diaperco.com/store/pg/90-Cost-Savings-Cloth-Diapers-vs-Disposables.html

Hope that helps!

I've always wanted to cloth diaper, but I'm feeling overwhelmed at the prospect of doing it with twins. So I'm trying to compare using a diaper service to avoid the mountains of laundry against disposables. I'm definitely willing to pay a little extra to use cloth, but not a ton, since we'll be on one income.

The only diaper service in our area is $100/month for their twin package, but we'd also need to buy some covers. Luckily, they also sell gently used covers for about $2.50 each, which would help us keep those costs pretty reasonable.

So my question is about how much do you spend on disposables each month? Is it in the ballpark of $50-60/month per baby or significantly cheaper?

And if anyone out there is using a diaper service - do you like it and think it's comparably convenient to disposables?
