Taryn looks safer as the waist is higher... When I was in this situation last year I found speaking openly about it with the stores reps was really helpful. Good luck!

It's hard to say but dress 2 looks like a better option. Not sure what size you should order though...

@tororojo: @Bookworm: my spanx barely fit now - lol, i bought them when i was 10 lbs lighter

@Pirouette: i think i will get the style i like. if i'm not preggo by then, i will be sad wearing the dress i dislike

@Pepper: i hope my boobs grow two sizes! they could use that :)

@tororojo: +1 on that answer. I'm up a size on top and bottom, but I'm also very short so I popped early, I was in maternity pants at 8 weeks! Going up a size should cover you on either of those, and maternity spanx exist to firm you up if needed! :)

I would order a size up for rib cage/boobs and I think either dress would be fine...I didn't pop til like 20+ weeks. If you're tallish (I'm 5'7") your bump probably won't stick out too quickly, IMO.

Get the top one! i ordered a dress while TTC that will look absolutely ridiculous if i have a bump by then, but i just liked it better. You can always alter it, and since it's Jcrew, i bet it would be pretty easy to order a different one after the fact if necessary. But def wait until after you POAS, just in case, and report back if you have news and we'll help you re-decide :)

I'm in a wedding in April, when I'll be 30 weeks. I tried on one of the bridesmaid dresses recently at 20 weeks. I'm normally a 4 in formal wear, and the 8 fit me perfectly. The main reason was my chest, I went up two bra sizes since being pregnant. I also am showing, whereas other people aren't showing much by 20 weeks. It really just depends! They say it's easier to take in a dress than to let one out, so definitely something to consider.

I ordered my dress in a 10, and I'm hoping that works without too many alterations by 30 weeks. It's so hard to judge!! As for the dresses, I'd say number two as well. Good luck!!

@Bao: Thanks for your response. It might be wishful thinking - but I don't think I'll be too big by 20 weeks. I really like the top dress better -- way more flattering. I'm so torn!

@Cherrybee: Thanks for the advice. I"m trying to wait to POAS until Sunday - which will be CD32 for me. My last cycle was 41 days, previous two were 33. I'll wait until Sunday to order- that's when the bride wants us to order by (plus a 20% sale ends on Sunday). Hopefully I will know either way then! :)

I popped - literally - at 13 weeks. I woke up one morning and I was enormous!! By 18 weeks, I have a full blown baby bump! In addition, my bbs have grown by almost two cup sizes (and I have only put 1.4lb since before Christmas, honestly!!).

Everyone is different. You may barely show at 20 weeks - or you might be like me and be huge! When are you due to POAS? Can you hold off ordering your dress until then? Because it's very unlikely you will be much bigger at 14 weeks..... ! Oh but in addition, lots of women get really sick and lose weight in the 1st Tri - so you might be much slimmer at 14 weeks!! ARGH!

My advice - get the second one just in case you're 20 week and you've popped! And get it a size or two bigger - you can always have it taken in, you can't have these things taken out!

The second one would be great since you don't know if you will be pregnant or not. At 20 weeks for me though, I really wasn't huge. Everyone is different. If you do order the top one, get it a size or so bigger and you could get it altered closer to the wedding if need be.

I'm in month 2 of TTC, going to POAS on Sunday. I'm a bridesmaid in early July and need to order my jcrew dress this weekend. If I were lucky enough to get a BFP this cycle, I would be a max of 20 weeks preggo. Since my cycles are so long - if I get BFN this cycle, I would be like 14 weeks along.

1. Which dress do you think I should buy? I like the Arabelle better than Taryn, but realize that Taryn is more practical with its empire waist. When your bump first begins to pop, does your rib cage expand right away?

2. Should I just order up one size?(Normally a 4)

Thanks for your insight!
